Hey y'all! Greetings from New Orleans! I just recently acquired a 2008 Zuma (stock except for clutch springs, variator tune and leo vince zx-r pipe). It's for my girlfriend so I kept it how it was when I got it. Runs great! Got it for $400!
After riding around on my Zuma for a bit I decided I was going to get a Jog from my buddy. I've wanted one forever and knew he had one for sale because he had stripped the variator side crankshaft threads. I got it for super cheap. It's not in the best shape but it does have all the plastics (some of them are cracked/broken). It's a white CY50 Nextzone. I tore the motor apart, removed the oil injector, replaced the crankshaft with a Stage6 10pin HPC. I found a cheap NOS airsal single ring 70cc kit on eBay, so I bought that. I chamfered all of the ports and got the squish adjusted. New bearings and seals. I got some malossi .35mm carbon reeds from drowsports and installed them on the stock reed block. I used a step bit and bored out the ID of the spigot part of the stock intake to fit a Dellorto 19mm PHBG carb. It has a Stage6 variator with 33g of weight in it, Stage6 "medium" torque spring, NCY adjustable pulley, Stage6 MKII torque control clutch, Stage6 450g CNC clutch bell and finally, a Stage6 pro replica that I got with the bike when I originally purchased it.
I got it tuned in today and honestly, it's incredible to ride! It lifts the front end up unless you're leaning forward at pretty much all throttle positions.
I started tuning old 2 stroke mopeds and then I discovered how insanely powerful a tuned 2t scooter can be so i've been tinkering with scooters for the last 2 months. I also own an old Minarelli V1 pedal start moped that I rebuilt with a 80cc Polini kit and a VM20 carburetor with new crankshaft, bearings and seals.
Anyway, i've gleamed some useful tips off of here from lurking so figured i'd register and start posting!
