Hello everyone. I havd recently installed a bbk 100cc (83cc) on my new Tao Tao Racer 50. For some reason i cant get the bike over 32mph. I have an 88 main jet, i derestricted the airbox, i use an orange cdi, i use 8g rollers. I have no idea what to do next. Any thoughts would be great.

did you try any other main jet sizes? 88 might not be what you need. what was the stock size? also 8 grams is probably a bit heavy.

I think I was running 6 gr on my 72cc...but I was running taller gears. How does your plug look - you might need to go up even more on the jet.

What are your rpms like at top speed? Also good luck with this. I just ordered my racer 50 and im planning a build thread once it arrives

I would try some 6.5 or 7g roller weights.

I'd try more main jets to be certain that's not the issue. 8000RPM is usually making pretty good power for these engines, but 8000RPM at 32MPH could mean you have a belt out of spec (too thin) or something else going on in the CVT. You can try lighter weights to see if more revs does anything for you, but I'd also try a little heavier to see what happens. You can even stuff aluminum foil in each weight to make them heavier (must be equal weights so you need a small scale). You can mark across the face of the variator, center to outer edge, with a marker and after you run it to max speed you should be able to tell by the mark left if you're missing a lot of belt travel.

P.S. i heard that Tao Tao doesn't restrict there bikes in the variator. don't know if its tru tho so im goingt o rip everything out of my old scooters gy6 variator and see what happends. clutch and all.

My TaoTao wasn't restricted by anything other than the power the 49cc 4T makes.

If you still have the stock air box snorkel on, take it off and put in a 95 jet. I went through the same thing on mine. Turns out the snorkel limits the airflow for the bbk.
