I inherited a Flyscooters 2008 Il Bello 49cc with a terrible plastics situation (cracks, missing panels, missing screws) and awful wiring to match. Today begins her new life - I’m stripping all the plastics, replacing wiring, getting her up and running and then beginning mods and some aesthetic changes. I am open to any and all feedback and suggestions!

Sounds like yet another non-street-legal "garage queen" pile of excrement scenario! Try not to be too discouraged by tortoise's negative remark. He's a great source of info, but if it's not right to service manual or local law book spec he doesn't seem to like it very much to put it mildly. My next-to-nothing-stock, pile of excrement, garage queen that I call a scooter probably has more miles on it than any 5 combined bone stock scooters that I regularly come across. Sure it's more trouble when you go making more power, but it's more fun too IMO. Modifications aren't always bad things, though I admit they can be. Know what you're getting into and you'll be fine. My best suggestion is to take the time to look it all over and figure out if there's anything you want that it doesn't have and do it while it's in project mode. 12V outlet/USB charging port, foot pegs, accurate gauges... whatever you are pretty sure you'd like to have. Also, try to improve upon original anywhere the opportunity arises. Maybe that means replacing the worn tires with quality tires or maybe that's as simple as putting some dielectric grease on connectors before they go back together. Could make it a better scooter in the long run.

I'm not discouraged - I'm having a blast! I think it looks pretty cool with the plastics removed and mechanically it is doing better than it has in years. I need to come up with a footrest and probably do something about the seat.

Oh, and I guess I probably need to put the brake lights and flashers back on
