In case anyone is interested in wires with tracers, or even decent quality plain wires, I used 4R Customs. They have a site and an eBay page. If you order, check both. I got a better deal on their solid color wires through eBay and a better deal on the tracer wires on their site. Also read the full listings, because some listings allow you to choose colors and some have a pre-defined set of colors. I got pretty much an immediate response that was friendly when I emailed to specify colors and the wires arrived in just a couple of days. 4rcustomswire.com/productsstores.ebay.com/4rcustomswire/

18 is good for 5 amps DC at 10 ft, 16 is good for 10 amps DC at 10 feet. There are many sizing charts for different wire types and length of run.

I went with 16, though I think 18 would serve many purposes in the harness. Not really much difference in size or cost and easier to order combo packs of all 16. Added some 12 for engine/frame/batt ground and larger power wire. If I still used e-start, I'd go larger for the grounds and e-start cables but I have nothing that's a huge draw.

I was thinking 18 would be plenty myself. But since cost and size is so close, 16 makes better sense I guess. It is all kind of expensive for wire IMO.

You can get hookup wire cheaper and it will probably work fine. Just read specs on whatever you're buying or reviews if applicable. The stuff I got has worked for years, it's just more of a pain to work with. Day to day, never notice. Building a harness, you notice. The heat range is better on the GXL, but I've never had a problem with the hookup wire I used last time. Being used to Chinese scoots, who knows what kind of wire they use and the wires themselves aren't often an issue. I just wanted tracer wires and didn't see a lot of options and I wanted to go with something expected to be good quality. It's not really cheap to buy 20 colors of any halfway decent wire anyhow. Most of the best deals are spools 50ft+, but they're only deals if you will be doing a lot of wiring.

After working with these to make a harness, I'd say they're good wires. Flexible enough to work well, but firm enough to be easier to route through things than some similar wires. Insulation seems tough, but not difficult to work with. Really nice having striped wires for less confusion when making a whole harness. No complaints.
