Brent. I repaired pin ball and video games boards to the component level for eight years. If you haven't reconciled your problem by now ringing out your (bridge) rectifier is very easy to do with your DVM.
With your meter set for diode testing, probe all possible combinations across the four pins. The two pins that give the highest readings are the + and -. The pin that your black (ground,common) probe is against is the positive terminal and the red probe is against the negative terminal. The connections to the other two terminals from your stator output(s) can go either way.
I have checked this out with a spare bridge rectifier I had on hand and know this to be true. The lower readings should be around 0.4 - 0.6 and that highest reading should be around 0.7 - 1.0v.
Hope this helps. It's almost impossible to damage a bridge rectifier by hooking it up wrong. It just won't do what it is supposed to do which is to put out a dc current with an ac ripple on top of the waveform.

You are awesome Reg. Thank you. I will try that out. I haven't touched it. I was just looking around for info or parts and hadn't really figured anything out. That and I've been eating crabs and riding my scoot. 436miles so far this week and I'm headed out for another ride in a few minutes. My poor father keeps asking about the scooter. I told him I'm trying but I just don't know what to do with it and I get pi$$ed after a few minutes. I can deal with mechaincal things so much easier than electrical. I don't mind the cutting, splicing, soldering, making things neat, whatever... I just don't have the understanding of electronics needed to know to do things like step has just laid out for me.

Yeah, September coming has got me making a special effort to ride. I'll still ride when it's cold, but it's not nearly as enjoyable. I'll post in the weekend thread, but I never really get many pics of my rides.

Something's not right here... I don't get readings in V at all. When I switch to diode testing on either multimeter it acts as a continuity test and displays readings in ohms rather than volts. Polarity of the meter doesn't matter. I'm testing with the rectifier disconnected, although it is still bolted to the frame. Do I need to unbolt it or should it be connected to the harness or something? I have two meters and they both do the same thing, so I'm sure it's me doing something wrong. I thought that the meters were supposed to supply a voltage to read a drop with diode testing. Maybe my meters are screwed up or don't have enough power or something? I pulled both meters apart. One had a blown fuse, I replaced it and got the same result. The other was fine. Using a new 9V didn't do anything either.

If the device you are testing is purely a bridge rectifier (merely four diodes arranged in a particular manner) or even a device which includes also voltage regulation then there should be no indications of a zero ohm reading between any of the terminals. Also if it is purely a bridge rectifier there should be no connections to the case so removing the device from the frame should make no difference.
The fact that your meter reads in ohms for diode testing, well, kind of blows my mind. When the meter leads are reversed for the same two terminals different readings should result when diodes are tested. It sounds to me like your rectifier is shorted.

Thinking about it, I suppose I should have expected continuity between two terminals since my headlight comes on with battery power. I didn't check to see which wires went to those terminals, but I can guess they're red(+ ign/battery power) and white(lighting circuit). I guess that at least tells me that it's not my wiring causing the issue, so I should really be down to getting the rectifier straightened out. Now it would be really nice to be able to get the right rectifier for sure. I guess I'll just order a generic GY6 regulator and test it before installing. If I get the same results, I have no idea what to do then. Sunl or Roketa don't even carry a rectifier for this scoot anymore.

It was disconnected.
I was messing with it a little more. I discovered that my tail light wire had power to it at all times. I traced it and the tail light wire was spliced into power. WTH is with Chinese wiring. That would mean the tail light would be on at all times (I haven't hooked it up yet to notice). I cut it out and now the headlight only comes on with the key on. Before it would come on with the key off and then get brighter with the key on. I guess it was feeding back through the handlebar controls for parking lights and headlights. If I unhook the rectifier there appears to be no power crossing over now. Bob had mentioned hearing that the wiring on these scoots was screwy and needed work, but wow. I ordered a "universal" GY6 rectifier.

I guess I just misunderstood. Yeah, it sounds like you need a new one. Chow must have laid out drunk the night before he wired up that scooter. Or maybe Wan, the cute little assembly girl across the way, was wearing that special sexy outfit that day. LOL.
I feel for ya, buddy. What a headache! Sounds like that scoot might have a date with the Chesapeake Bay in it's future.

I put a new belt and new starter bendix on this morning. It was missing about 50% of the time when I hit the starter button. The belt is about 1mm wider than the old one, so maybe it will help me get over 40MPH. Hopefully the rectifier will get here soon, and hopefully it will work.
I'm not sure what happened to the guy that was going to sell the 2 stroke retro. I think he may have decided that for the price it was worth keeping.
