Today after getting in from doing scooters wife said. Right you can stay in now you are not well ( flu ). Hour later new shiney thing arrives for kitchen. Time for me to slip out and look at a BMW across road not sure of series but its 329 C.I. or maybe bigger petrol automatic and double glazed window for sale most likely very cheap due to mpg. Did not even notice I had gone

It's a stupid idea bmw had for the 7-series. I'm not sure if all of em have it. They're (2 of em) are in the "c" pillars by the back window. They are little control boxes for the tail lights. If your lights work fine, nm forget I said anything. If they don't look up the tail light module.
I used to own an '03 e39 530i m-sport euro edition. Cool car, but it was like a 19 YO blonde girlfriend. Beautiful to look at, great to be seen with, awesome to play with when everything goes right, but an absolute worthless unreliable bitch when you need it the most. And expensive to keep up. Who makes a goddamm plastic radiator?!?! Or designs a cooling system that leaks hot water on your belts so it destroys your pulley bearings in your alternator and ps pump.
Master-race, my ass. Can't even design a damn car AND IT CAME WITH A 5-YEAR 100,000 MILE BUMPER2BUMPER WARRANTY AND IT STILL STARTED DYING AT LIKE 98K.

I once had a 1972 Volvo 144E sedan. It was quite a bit like Benji described above, if more plain.
It felt great and it was a pleasure to drive. But maintenance was a killer. It had odd engineering. Such as timing gears, one of them some sort of hardened fiberglass type stuff. This was meant to protect the other gears if things got tight in there. Great! But it cost an arm and a leg to service.
It had early 'computerization' for the fuel injector and such. Printed circuit boards, primitive by today's standards. Their 'swapability' seemed like a great idea. But they were expensive.
It had four wheel disk brakes. Not common back then. They felt great. But.....you guessed it. Expensive.
I had some notion when I bought it that parts would be more expensive than parts for a Ford or a Dodge. But I didn't know it would be as bad as it was. And I did have some notion that finding people to work on it would be more difficult. But I didn't know it would be as bad as it was.
On the other hand, I did sell that car after a couple of years for just about what I paid for it. So it did have that virtue. Plus....it was fun and comfortable.
But bring money or stick with the genuine mass market cars.

But bring money or stick with the genuine mass market cars. My first car was a 1973 144. Carbed, not fuel injected. Yours had the fuel system similar on the P1800's. I used to be a volvo mechanic and worked on those cars a lot and they are so easy to work on! Try working on a 850 when you're used to amazons, 140s and 240s.... The only stupid thing about these 140s is, its a european car but every nut and bolt is imperialistic size, nothing metric!

Bad ass car! E-38 chassis. Had a V-12 in both diesel and petrol. Like other BMW's of the late 90's, had a steering box mounting design issues. Not easy to check. My older bro, and former nephew and his dad are BMW heads to the furthest degree.
