It will be fun to watch. Back when 'Biohazard' and others were competing I even thought about entering. Now I don't have the resources or abilities but it will be fun to watch.

even thought about entering Wonder how many viewers review the rules and have multiple pages of "concept doodles"? Hard to beat the strategy of mass and blunt force . . . Interesting context . . .

I was starting to wonder if they were ever coming back till I saw the promo on Discovery not long before this post. Some of those things are terrifying when you realize how big and heavy they are and how much power they pack. Not something I ever want to meet in a dark alley.

Yeah, the heavyweight class is where I wanted to compete. I haven't looked at the rules since the beginning. The kinetic energy bots are killers but they have weaknesses. I have AutoCAD files somewhere.
BTW, batteries suck...
I won't be seeing the 'Science Channel' though since I cut the cable 9 years ago. The only streaming I have is through Amazon Prime.

I do this on a small scale. Ive competed against some of these competitors.
Theyve been saying on fb that everyone should write the channels who air battlebots and tell them how happy you are to have battlebots back and request furthur seasons.
Battlebots (televised combat robot un general) has been rife with legal challanges so its not always easy to get networks to air. Legal problems are what killed Battlebots initially.

Hmmm, I don't 'FB', it was a nightmare to get involved so I deleted my account quickly.
I don't get the science channel or any channels. I think my Ex left a bottle of that 'Channel #5' around somewhere. Probably in a box waiting for a dumpster.
I didn't know that BB had legal problems. I know that one of the series that I saw was a farce like TV wrestling.
I was kind of surprised to see fire being used in some of those contests. After that first year when the real BB competition disappeared I never kept up with any rule changes.

I was suprised to see fire too. And drones. Neither seemed too effective, but it looks good on tv (and hypershock i think was knocking the drone out of the sky with a rake was awesome). And thats important since its a Tv show and requires ratings.
They all have to be outrageous and unique in order to get on the show at all.

Here in the UK we have Robot Wars,I love to watch it but just on tv along with Gold Rush,Fast and Loud,Deadliest Catch and the Oscar winning Gold divers amongst others. One of the all time great fails was a "20lb spinner" which must have been secured to the drive shaft with flour and water it got up to speed hit the floor and fragmented awesome to see the damage but stupid of the builders not to test it before nearly killing the audience.

Looks like a lower support bearing failed and the spinning blade hit the bot itself -BOOM-
The set screws or clamp on a bearing block can not be relied on to retain a shaft. Amateur 'machine' builders don't usually know that.

Its a pretty typical failure mode for a spinner. When they let go they sure do fly. Its usually spectacular, even on a small scale. Its made worse because a builder may choose an inferior size shaft/hub/clamp/etc. To save the weight to have a bigger motor/weapon/etc.
I remember one 3lb event (i wish i could remember where a video was at) a bot with a skillsaw blade as a horozontal spinner let go, bounced around the arena, came back and knocked the bot into the pushout, resulting in a loss.

In my day, we didn't need no fancy electro-mechanical robots to do our fighting for us, we used our hands
But if you're going to do it, go big

Just booked tickets to see extreme robots. Something similar to this. My grandson is going to love it 😀
