Have swingarm bolt (shock tower bolt) that stripped. Tried doctoring it with the right size/pitch die...to far gone in some areas. What can be done besides grinding it of n drilling a whole for a new carrier type bolt
1. Could I use the same pitch yet a smaller size die
2. Should I grind the threads first then do step 1 or can I just go over threads with the smaller die.
3.
Also if the only safe solution is grind the bolt off, drill a whole, n put another bolt in..
What would be a good grade and decent size....

If the bolt is going into something that you can't replace, like into the frame or shock and not a nut, then using a smaller die with the same pitch won't work. The thread diameter and pitch must both match. For example, if you had an M8x1.25mm bolt, you couldn't just find an M6 or M7x1.25 die and then use that bolt in threads for the original M8x1.25 bolt. You'd have to get a matching nut or other threaded fixture.
Can't find any parts sites that would carry what sounds like a specialty bolt, or a dealer of that brand that may be able to help?

Yeahhh Finally got it back on the road.Tested Sat. on some bumpy country roads... The cut, drill, find a high grade bolt worked n it rides good again. Still have to put the original tank on it...it had a leak coming from the mounting bracket area. Tried the por15 motorcycle tank sealer...havent tested the tank yet.... As for pics will post on YouTube in a couple of days, and send the link
