I read the stock exhaust on the Taotao Thunder is not restricted. The previous owner abused the entire scooter. Complete overhaul almost finished. 72cc BBK Performance, Air filter, Coil CDI and plug. Cluth and springs (1500). Variator and weights (6.5 rollers)4 gram sliders ordered. New carb 92 main Jet. Hoses and most wires replaced. Halogen headlights switced to LED. I used h4 bulbs. Dual high low beam. Not one at a time. Removed low beam shield from projector lens (everyone should) All sticers removed. Sanded and painted and sanded and painted. About 20 coats of Flat black with Matte clear coat in bewteen. It helped keep it Flat black and it can be wiped without cotton fuzzies sticking to it. Removed tags and helmet holder filed holed with bondo. Painted back and clear again but finished with clear on this piece. It looks like it did but no holes. Pulled off Tires and did the same. Put new tires on. White lettered tires and balanced tires. While the tires where off I did the caliper and shocks cherry red. Forks and entire gear box Flat black. EXHAUST pretty much last thing to do. I weigh 200lbs. My top GPS speed is 47mph. Only 150 miles on BBK. I wont open past 7000rpm yet. Redline is 9000. I can pretty much fix anything but I dont know how to post pictures here.

The stock exhaust will probably work alright if you want to keep it quiet. If you're already doing 47MPH, it's not a restricted exhaust. Most of the time people aren't getting big gains from aftermarket pipes. I think they are likely to do more when you have the BBK and if you have larger ports though. If you do try it with stock and aftermarket, let us know what you think of the difference. I sometimes think exhausts can do next to nothing and get good reviews because being louder makes it feel faster.

There are block off plates pretty cheap, NCY makes one. You can make your own easily enough with a piece of steel and drilling holes for the bolts.
