hi everyone i just bought a keeway matrix. after the break in i wanted to mod it to get it a little faster as well as faster acceleration. i was searching around this forum on how to make it faster, any more info would help, like what mods i should do. i bought a leo vince zx pipe(not installed). i don't really want to to do a bbk kit yet, as i don't want it too loud becasu of the neighborhood i live in.

BBK does not make them louder but aftermarket pipes will increase sound somewhat. Most people on this site suggest BBK before pipe. If you need one let me know I have an Autotech 70cc kit for only 80 shipped less then 50 miles.

A BBK may make it louder... But not significantly. As long as you don't put a racing pipe on it. Let's say put a Leo Vince ZX on it - it won't be louder than a sport bike's exhaust. Most people would be able to handle the noise at night, from my experience. I ran a LV ZX with a BBK and open filter without complaint at very late hours last year in my quiet neighborhood. Tuned it at late hours mostly (10pm to 2am). Maybe I just had nice neighbors.

Mine didn't get any louder when I had the 70cc kit on it. And I can't stand loud vehicles. Guess it depend on the kit and other mods done.

I strongly suggest staying away from any sort of open air filter. They can end up louder than a lot of aftermarket exhausts. Won't get much performance out of them anyway at this stage, so it's just not worth it.
There are good pipes that not much louder than stock. Leo Vince SP3, YMS V8, things like that that claim to be touring or street pipes tend to be quieter. Look for reviews or vids before you choose one to be sure.
Of course I also think the BBK is the best answer to start with. Shouldn't get much louder. Even my 96cc with a larger carb, stock airbox, and aftermarket street pipe is not a lot louder than a stock 49cc. Most people would never notice it's modified unless I'm going fast or picking the front wheel up.

I agree with you and the open filters. I ran one on Skeedr when i road it as a DD but if i could do it again ide run a box or more 'channeled' filter with baffles and such. I run an open filter now but its a drag scoot. It takes allot more than street or sport kit spinning at around 10,000 most of the time to really "require" one. Not to mention your daily tune will go to crap. You will have it all tuned in and running great one day with an open filter. The next day its 20degrees cooler and your scooter is all of the sudden lean enough to seize.

I concur. My stock air box was broken when I got my scoot so I changed to a cone-type aftermarket filter. Now my scoot is so much louder than my coworker's (identical scoots, but his still has the stock box). I plan to buy a stock box shortly because that air filter causes me to run lean if I don't restrict it (which I have done). I could have changed the jet size to compensate, but I didn't know that at the time. Having been educated here on 49cc, I won't go that route just yet, though when I put the stock box on I may remove the snorkel and then fit the bigger jet.

I agree... I have a matrix and its already plently loud. It had an expansion pipe in it with a spent silencer that wa really loud! Careful if u put the bore kit in. Expect 95+ main jet ... Mine needed a 105... And it totally sucked gas at that point.

I pulled mine out. Don't get me wrong it was awesome, but I was having issues keeping it running.

so with your 50 cc and mods listed in your post how fast does your moped go on flats and uphill. i personally don't care about top speed, mostly acceleration. the stock matrix is just too slow off the line, a stock sym dd is much faster at accelerating. my weight is 165 lbs.
