I have been working on a Vento Zip clone and finally finished up today. It came with a little tiny battery like a 4 amp or whatever. It was dead when I got it and wouldn't take a charge so to test the engine and lights I have been using a larger sized 7 amp battery from my 4 stroke 50cc. I plan on getting a small battery just haven't done it yet. The low beam was burned out so I replaced the bulb for $12 and the damn low beam burned out again in less that 1/2 hour's riding dammit! My question: Is the larger amp battery doing it or is it a bad regulator or what? All other lights work fine. HELP! Dave

I had trouble with bulbs blowing a lot and it ended up being the rectifier/regulator. It always happened at high RPM cruising with mine and sometimes the bulb would get real bright just before it blew. It really shouldn't be the battery causing this issue. If everything else is correct, I've seen people use car batteries with good results.

So I remove the bulb and it's good! I start looking at the socket and wires and connectors now. 1/2 hour later I finally get to the high/low switch on the handlebar and there's a wire that came un-soldered from the switch. Friggin thing had me barking up the wrong tree dammit!

I had the same problem. I got sick of it and finally wired all of my lights to run off of the battery. I switched over to all LED's though, so there's barely any draw. I replaced my rectifier and it was still blowing bulbs, so I just said screw it.

At least you found it! ;D Yeah, at least I have that. Now I can't find my soldering iron. Harbor Freight here I come! I'm wondering what's going to happen next?

Nah! I just got a regular old $5 iron. On a side note, the blinker stopped working again so I ended up installing the new flasher relay.
