Yep! Get a cheap 12 volt impact from Harbor Freight. They run off the scooter's battery or a car battery. It winds up and then whack! Usually takes a few hits to loosen the nut. I hit the nut 5-7 times to tighten. You'll need it to remove the variator and clutch also. If you run it off a car battery be careful! They hit harder with more amps so you could over-tighten the nuts and strip 'em. The scooter's battery is just right. www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-1-2-half-inch-emergency-impact-wrench-92349.html

Thanks for posting the vid. I've never used an electric. Didn't know they wound up like that. I'm used to a big air gun that either removes it or breaks it quickly when you're dealing with most scooter sized fasteners.

psha - that hardly seemed worth it. Two cracks from impact driver and the bolt came out. sorta bummed I wanted to play with it more, but for right now, the impact wrench is my new favorite tool. What to go impact what to go impact? so do I really need to buy a puller or can I make one?

The pullers made just for that job work so much easier than anything else I've tried and they're pretty cheap. Just search GY6 150 flywheel puller and tons should come up under $20. Others have used steering wheel pullers before and I believe jawed pullers.

yeah I just tried to be creative and fabricate a puller - it still may work, but its gonna take work to make it work.
work work work work
i love it. When i started this, i was thinking it was gonna be a 5 minute job to remove.
WRONG.

PFS sells the same puller for a little less and shipping is cheaper.

ok so this will be the post that never dies. Got the puller today, just like the nut on the flywheel it came off in less than 5 seconds.
found that I have an 8 coil stator and have now ordered it. God I hope this is the problem.

BTW - if anyone in the portland OR area needs a flywheel puller PM me. I have one. Instead of buying just the 27x1 lh I bought like 6 of all diff sizes that work on suz, kaw etc.
so if you are local PM me I will let you borrow it. same with the impact wrench and any other special tools needed that I might have
