Not sure which thread to put this in but does anyone know what kinda size the variator nut may be on a 1E40QMB as I'm looking to order a torque wrench and trying to find one which includes the socket I'll need. I can't take the CVT cover off as I don't currently have a socket wrench. Thank you.

They are usually a 17mm socket.
Torque wrenches are one part, then you install the socket onto it. I’ve never seen torque wrenches in specific socket sizes.

Yes I'm just trying to make sure as there are a few torque wrenches in sets with sockets so I'm trying to make sure I get one with the correct size socket.

FYI Torque wrenches are NOT to be used to break bolts loose or as a socket wrench. doing so will usually destroy them in short order.

Get yourself a ratchet and socket set for loosening stuff and general tasks. Save the torque wrench for when you want a precise tightening torque.
Just to be sure it's clear, a torque wrench and a ratchet are 2 different things. A ratchet is sort of the basic tool. A torque wrench is usually like a ratchet, but it lets you dial in a specific amount of torque for tightening fasteners.

Thank you for the advice yes I thought it wouldn't be great to do that. I was planning on borrowing someone else's socket wrench for breaking the bolts loose to avoid doing exactly that.

I wish I had the money but considering the fact that fuel prices have gone wild and I haven't been paid yet this month I think I may just have the borrow someone else's for now. I'll treat myself another day. Thank you for clarifying with me though, I'll be sure to shout at the next person I see using a torque wrench to break bolts lol. Also another question, do you use thread locker on your variator nut and if so what strength would you recommend?

I don't generally use a thread locker, but I take my stuff apart too much anyway. Some people do and they often use a medium strength blue thread locker.

Ahh yes good point, by the time it would've loosened off you'd have probably already removed and reinstalled it a few times so it never gets time. Thank you for your advice, I'll probably put a dab of blue on there when I get round to doing it.

id say 3/8 drive from 8mm to 20mm. and a 1/2 to n3/8 adaptor. 3/8 ratchet and a 1/2" breaker bar. that should be a good start to getting you in or out of trouble. tools are an expense that will continually pay for them selves. my rule is if I gotta barrow a tool more than once, I usually go out and buy one. because youre probably gonna need it again in the future

I do have a few 3/8 drive sockets and a few 1/2 but I no way to actually use any of them.

The first one should work for your clone. The one for Aerox won’t bolt up correctly.
