Just got another of these TNG's up and going and the scoot only has 55 km on it. Ran completely through the carb and noticed that the petcock didn't wanna shut off with suction tube off so replaced it with one that functions normally. Also note that I removed all restrictions (just a variator restriction, the exhaust restriction was new/unused in the Manual/Title bag). When I take off it goes fine till 20 KMH or so and then falls completely on it's face, so I would say from 1/3 throttle and up. My first thought is there may have been something in the new petcock and clogged the main or maybe the secondary jets. Removed and inspected for blockage and it was still clean as a pin. Reinstalled and the same issue ensued. HMMMM. I then removed a carb from one of my Vento's (this one does 48 with my 6'5" 230 pound ass on it and gets there super quick) and installed it and the same issue STILL! Any thoughts on this? The airbox is secure, all intakes flawless and filter clean. Could it be a stuck reed or maybe something in variator or clutch assembly? Spark and compression normal as per spec.

That's kinda what I am thinking as well. It seems like something is keeping it from "getting in the pipe". Gonna check when I get back to my shop after lunch. Thanks 2strokd

Take the CVT cover off and inspect the area for wear and or damage in any of the CVT components, belt, etc. Take the variator off and clean it and inspect for damage. Weigh the rollers and decide if i need to go up or down in roller weight? Pull the clutch bell off and clean and inspect it for damage as well. Maybe instal some new clutch springs (stiffer)? Check the rear pulley for smooth operation and or damage. Replace the spring if needed..?..

UPDATE!!!! Finally got to messing with the Venice and pulled the vari cover and all was fine as wine. While putting it back on I noticed that the airbox assembly didn't look exactly like the Vino's I had been cannibalizing for parts that I just happened to have pushed out of the shop while cleaning. The Venice airbox just had a big hole that looked like it was made just that way, but on closer inspection I noted grind marks (dremel?) on the orifice. NO SNORKEL! Popped the snorkel out of the Vino's box (insert joke here, you're well set up for it) and it loosely fit in the Venice's intake. A bit of 100 mph tape my buddy who works in NASCAR down in Raleigh and a quick crank on the kicker and hits right onto idle instantly. Hop on, Twist, 'n'Go. Sick acceleration and it is absolutely balling out down the street. Buried the 60KMH speedo to where 75KMH should be on the clock. If I hadn't had that vino out while tinkering I would have never seen it cuz it looked stock. A lil' chestnut of knowledge to hang on to, don't F' with airbox's unless you are gonna mod the whole power string, like jets and possibly exhaust. Woof. Ready for sale....
