I have been thinking that my scooters headlight are barely able to keep up with my scooter. around town they arent bad, but on open road, i seem to out ride them often. the current lights are stock 35w/35w.according to the manual. i was thinking of a ruckus type headlight set up at 35/55w. wiring and brackets are no problem but i wonder about the stator being able to keep up with the load. or is there an aftermarket high output stator?.any thoughts? or examples of others headlight mods? thanks

The stator should do OK up to 55W in most cases. An upgrade bulb might be a simple way to start. I think the Zip uses the B base bulbs. That's what my Tritons had stock. I moved up to 45/45 first. That's a very nice upgrade. 10W makes a nice difference. I used that for a long time with no issues. Recently I put a 60/60 in one and it has worked very well for me. Lots of light. The Triton housing is different than yours, and some are prone to melt with the heat from higher wattage lights. If you use anything brighter than stock, keep a close watch on the headlight housing. Check regularly on your first ride to see if there are any signs of it starting to melt. You'd probably be pretty pleased with 45/45 and I think that would be safe. Much easier and cheaper than worrying about new housings and stuff if this might do it. www.mfgsupply.com/SnowHeadlight.html/mv_session_id=S5aFscoMI've got 2 55W driving lights on one of my scoots. They work very well, one at a time as high one as low. Mounting can be a lot of trouble though, so again I suggest trying a higher wattage replacement first.

Yeah what he said about the plastic melting ^^^ Watch it! I've seen it before. Hotter bulb will sometimes melt the lens and sometimes the socket and sometimes both. From reading your posts I see you have a Zip so the bulb is enclosed in a plastic bubble pretty much. Not a lot of venting there.
