I just bought a new JOG100 from scrappydog and a performance carb to go with it, the carb has a straight metal piece on top of it instead or an elbow piece like my stock carb. I dont want it to rub through my throttle cable so I cant mount it, anyone have any tricks? I tried using the old elbow piece but it renders the cable too short. Is it safe to cut the throttle cables casing?
Thanks

Only if you are really careful and don't nick the inner.
I have made throttle cables out of bicycle (in this case tandem) brake cables before. You buy an inner long enough with an end on it to match your throttle, and most old time bicycle shops sell the outer by the foot. On the carb end you simply tie a knot in the cable (in the right place) so that it hooks into your slide. Some old time motorcycle shops have solder on ends for cables too.

Engines are routinely test run after assembly. I have bought several Chinese vehicles "in the crate" that have been test run at the factory.

Thanks for the throttle cable lessons guys, I am guna worl on it this weekend and hopefully figure something out. Do any of you think that just upjetting the stock carb would be sufficient? Also i must say i wasnt happy with my experiance. It shipped 5days late, was missing a set of rollers I ordered, and the overall quality was not very good. The exhaust i got from them doesnt fit the mounts nor does it go around the fan shroud. There site is laid out well and MO there tech guy is very helpful, but other than that, I dont think Ill return.

The stock carb will work once tuned.
