picked up a SSO that resembles a rokita 150 today for 75$. it is very rough and i feel like i paid about 70$ to much for it. it does run, but no proper paperwork so, im thinking about swaping the 150 gy6 for the 1e40qmb thats in my zip. not anytime soon mind you but maybe one day over tyhe winter. also thinking how much more comfy the 13" tires would ride as well as the bigger front disk brake. the rear is the same drum size i have now. Now i know i could just fix up the roketa, but the paperwork is a real hassle, and besides i like to tinker with stuff. I have looked and googled but i cannot find any info on this swap. I know i would not be the first, but if i could see other peoples work it is always a little more inspiring. Anybody have any links? I have found tons of stuff for the honda ruckes but none for the little chinese 2 strokes :sos:

You sure aren't too clear what you are up to?
I *think* you intend on stuffing the 150cc GY6 where the Minarelli clone is?
All I know is: a 150GY6 will fit where a "real horizontal Minarelli" (Zuma) using some simple washers on the engine mount. You will steal enough of the GY6 wiring (ignition) to make it run, using a Bosch type relay (for reliability) to provide shut-down function (meaning: you will need a fully functional battery at all times), and you will hook your charging wires to the existing. The relay is to stop a back feed in the ignition that will prevent shut down because of the different CDI set-up.
I have done one of these, and if you search for "Zuma engine swap", something should turn up

what i am up to is thinking outloud! I have wanted one of these little scooters for a long time ,just because i thought they were kinda neat. Then I got one and found all the scooter message boards online and found out people hot rod them and go racing. so now all i think about is going fast on a scooter. I have built circle track cars, figure eight cars, a drag car or two and big mud trucks. anything with a motor . Hell, we even built a racing lawnmower once. didnt race it but we terrorized the neighbors for weeks! so yes , my intent would be to mount the large gy6 inplace of the minerelli clone. If the front forks from the bigger scooter would swap to my zip, it has a large 13 inch tire and much larger front brakes. I always try to get the best braking possable when i start pushing something alot faster then its used to. I did a quick measure today, and it looks like there is only about 1/4 " differance in the motor mounts. or a couple washers like you said. thanks for the wiring tips as well as the "zuma swap" tip. I wwould have done more and asked less but the heat just kills me, so i get about 10 or 15 minuets and then i retreat into the AC. . Thanks again for helping the new guy out!

So far you are heading in the right direction (by buying a donor). I *guess* we could get into a big discussion, over the merits of 2 stroke vs 4 stroke, but you seem to have decided your direction. For your viewing pleasure: www.lambrettainnovation.co.uk/Look under "projects". These guys are into really neat stuff.

you can make the zip engine way faster then the 150 gy6 even if you bored it to a 200cc. but i think your idea is sweet! doing something different is awesome! with fabrication knowledge anything can be done!

no need for big discussens( i cannot spell today!) I already belive in the 2 stroke superiority, especially in this application. but I got my zip for free, my complete donar for cheap, and honestly i didnt think it was that differant till i started looking. and more importantly, i am just looking for a project that can keep my mind busy, without emptying my wallet. so hopefully it all works out. oh...and if i dont like then results ,i can always go back to 2 stroke as i dont intend to modify the original mounts
