i am wondering if you need to change the blinker rely to use LED lights for the blinker?

Sometimes. I did it to 2 scoots. One worked, one did not. That's if you are using all LED signals. If you only swap front or rear to LED the other bulbs should create enough load that it works OK.
You'll wanna get a flasher that uses it's own ground, a 3 prong. I tried some 2 prong that said they worked for LEDs and they did not. The three prong worked for me.

Might work if it's a 3 prong. My 2Ts all use 2 prong flashers and I had to pick up a 3 prong from an auto parts store. Well, not 3 prong I guess. 2 prong and a ground like this... www.amazon.com/Prong-LED-Flasher-Volt-Round/dp/B0051ZHPRKJust doing the front it shouldn't be an issue anyway.
