That was, thanks! I was pretty surprised at some of those results. Thats allota lost metal in some of those tests . And the ones that didnt even pass the test period :jaw: ! Some of those are NOT cheap oils. I run Mystik JT4 full syn in my Kymco Cobra DD. Its still injected and this stuff is only $20 a gallon at a local place. Ive been real happy with it so far. No excessive buildup or anything to 'worry' me. docs.mystiklubes.com/msds_pi/M20077.pdfAs for my race scoot, it only sees Redline Two Stroke Racing Oil. Real happy with it as well. Virtually no wear at all since using this oil. Not even any build-up that wont wipe off with a paper towel. Of course its not cheap and i would never run it in a DD. www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=19&pcid=16

Tango, you said you used a drop of AMSOil in the fan... can't the AMSOil dealer there order their 2T products? I suppose they could, but here's the deal. 2-strokes are no longer as popular as they once were and certainly not as popular as in the US. 50cc scooters are pointless here because we have a lot of hills, it's generally warm to hot, and there is no legislative advantage to them. If you have a 50cc the insurance, registration, licence-plates, etc is the same as for a 600! As such, most of the scooters being sold now are 4-stroke Hunter-style 150s. So there really is little incentive to offer anything more than basic 2-stroke stuff. In fact, choice is kinda so limited that I have to use TCW3 in my scoot from time to time. 2T isn't hard to find, it's just that nobody gives a crap that a 2-stroke a-c scooter isn't designed to run on that stuff. The last time I saw synthetic 2T was about a year ago. I got it at a Shell gas station. It ran pretty good with very low odour and very little smoke. It wasn't blue either, it was a light straw colour. I was impressed, but haven't seen it since.

when you go to fl for your trip ship home a case or 2 of good 2 stroke oil LOL! That would be a good idea. BUT...that would be considered "hazmat" and therefore require special permit to carry. That and the fact that the local customs idiots would consider that "automobile parts" and either seize it to "protect the local industry" (like they did back in May when I tried to bring back a ham...a frigging ham, dudes....sheesh) or charge me an arm and a lung for it. <sigh> Living in paradise is a "beach"...

I order all of my AMSOil online direct from them. Perhaps you could skip the local dealer if you really want it? Not sure how bad shipping would be to you though, and I guess those customs people might have a fit.

Not sure how bad shipping would be to you though, and I guess those customs people might have a fit. Honestly, I think I would be more willing to track down a gas station that carries the synthetic stuff than to even consider importing it myself. I just can't be bothered to have to deal with these local dimwits. I've hated customs officers all my life so why stop now? LOL! You guys have really prompted me to start looking for good and proper oil for my scoot. I'm gonna go on a fact-finding mission come tomorrow. Ironically, I recently discovered an oil leak that I think is overflow from my bitched up air filter setup (the oil pump seems to be fine and isn't leaking). I also discovered that my intake manifold is shot. Cracks all over it. I'm afraid to look if the reed is okay because I'm sure I'm gonna destroy that manifold if I do anything more than look at it. This has prompted me to start planning to really get down and get some parts from Scrappy. It's about time, now that I have some support and a lot more know-how. Thanks guys.
