Hello 49'rs.
My first post, I did search on the gauge stuff, nothing came up. Sorry if Im missing something. Anyway, I just got a great deal on a new Beamer 50 (1,250). I also have a Burgman 400 and have had a Stella so I knw a little about scoots. This Eton is very fun to ride. Way more power than I thought it would have. I thought it was going to be a little faster than my bicycle, but it actually keeps up with city traffic !! *w00t* A few issues. The gas gauge doesnt work. Its no big deal to me, but I just would like it to work if its simple. When these go bad, is it usually a fuse or something, not the mechanism in the tank ? Anything I can check ? This bike did not come with a manual. The shop owner couldnt find it. No big deal, but if its an easy fix, I'd like to do it. Also, the pipe. . . Sounds like a cat fight a 2:00am . :paranoid: Any suggestions for a pipe that might deepen the sound a little ? Quieter even ? I had a Simonini on my Stella that was just right but I cant find any info on a Simonini - Marinelli motor unit. I can see why this is a lower level quality scooter in some of the latches and other little stuff like that, but I want to make it nice and intend to use it as a daily rider.
Thanks in advance for your help ! :thumb:

If the fuel level gauge is a fuse issue, it would likely be a main fuse and you'd have no blinkers or other gauge lights, etc... No battery powered electrical. I suppose it could be a ground or gauge cluster ground issue causing it to read an improper resistance, but most senders use a higher resistance to signal more fuel so I'd think it should read F all the time if that were it. It's more likely gonna be wiring/connection, fuel sender, or the gauge itself. Leo Vince SP3 is a good choice. The rattle at idle in the first vid was the variator.

Very cool :thumb: Thanks for info and taking time to post those vids !!
I think that pipe /upjet will first on the to-do list. Im OK with the stock variator stuff for right now . . . Again, thank you very much !

Well, actually the first one had a 70cc Polini Sport or Airsal T6 (I forget which it was at the time). The second is on a 90cc and the concrete was wet. lol Don't expect to bolt the pipe on and just start doing wheelies and spinning out.

When I got my scooter it would read empty if it had anything less than 1/2 tank of fuel. That was a bad sender unit (inside tank) and was changed. Four years later (less than that,a ctually) it is now reading 3/4 tank when it is bone dry. Yet another sender issue. Oh, and yes..I found out the HARD way that it was bone dry yet showing 3/4. <sigh> Those things are now hard to find in my neck of the woods so I just keep a close eye on it by taking a peek in the tank once the needle leaves full. I'd love to change it though.

I've had one float in the tank just fall apart in there, and another that was just the float arm too tite and just had to move the little lock washer back a little. Mine unscrew from the top of the tank and pul out easily to check the moving parts. I still check by eye before I go out though. No longer trust the gas guage to not fail.

i would think if you have a stella you are used to the little ele gremlins my gas gauge on the stella only works about 1/2 of the time I -had- a Stella. I wish I never got rid of it. But, Everything worked on mine. Perfectly. I used to get on StellaSpeed.com and read all the posts about 'gremlins' and wonder when the ball was going to drop on mine. I rode my Stella with a club and did 100 mile days, and even a 400 miler once--- mostly WFO through the hills of central PA. It was a one-kicker that ran fabulous for the 5k I had it. If I can even come close to the way the Stella started and ran with the Eton, I'll be happy ! Thanks again for great replies. I'll post results of pipe / jet stuff when I get it finished :scoot:
