I did a bbk everthing went just fine it started ok. Trying to get the carb tuned in. But it seems my engine gets to HOT. What should I check? What can the problem be for getting to hot?

The mixture is too lean or vacuum leak, however it is normal for engine during break in to run slightly hotter, but be carefull do not overheat it, do a propper break in Can I ask how exactly do you know that it is running too hot, any measurements of the temp?

What engine is it? Did you put the cooling shroud back on? Up jet the carb? How hot is it getting?

You have gone far enough to be able to check the spark plug for signs of rich/lean condition. I would suggest you do so earliest. My impression, only that, is that you need to go up a bit on the main jet. Better to be slightly rich than slightly lean, as a lean mix will in general lead to higher operating temperature. It can also lead to pre-ignition, or pinging. By one hundred miles(actually a lot less) you should NOT be noting higher temperatures than you encountered when the original piston/cylinder were installed. It should have cooled down by that many miles. tom

I agree with GrumpyUnk, I have a stock bore 49cc with modified intake and exhaust and I am running an 85 main jet and my plug looks perfect. I believe you are way too lean for that larger bore but, a few plug chops will tell you for sure.

One of the big mistakes I see noobs make with BBK's is improper break in. They get it all together just fine, then blast off to see what it'll do.
There are many opinions out there and many situations.....but these tiny motors can't shed heat fast enough and when they're new with a BBK, the heat has to be MANAGED carefully for the first 100 - 300 miles or so.
I've got over 4,000 miles on my 100cc kit now with ZERO problems. Still running like the day I finished tuning her.
Some say it's best to run it hard at break in. On these tiny motors I'm not sure about that. Maybe on 250cc motors and up or race cars. Dunno. YMMV.
