Lol I'll fix the title later on. Promised tsimi I'd be back in the 2t world soon after building my little 4t Honda, I was just trying to figure out what I wanted to build. Main requirements was 2 stroke with gears, preferably with ridiculous power and sketchy handling just for some added white knuckle fun! As per usual when I'm looking for a bike I can't find anything but something a bit different ends up falling into my lap lol So it's far from small, but it's 2t, has gears and I'm told the handling is up there in the sketchy department! Introducing my new 1999 Vespa NV SPL 150cc shifty! (Yes it's an LML, factory badged as a Vespa and sold by Vespa NZ though) Engine is stuck from sitting the last 16 years and there's a little bit of rust to sort out but it's a solid base and I wasn't planning on running the factory cylinder or exhaust anyway lol. I've never touched a Vespa before so any tips would be good lol

Welcome to the world of Vintage Vespas. They are their own unique animal. The Not-So-Modern section of Modern Vespa has a lot of info as well as Scooterhelp. I found a place in Italy, VespaTime they have a lot of parts at a fair price. Have fun.

Awesome, I'll have a good browse through tonight for sure! I've been running a small scooter parts business for almost 6 months now, so where possible I'll be buying from my suppliers and running the build on my business page as an example of parts I can supply (also because I can then right off all costs as business expenses hahaha) At this point I'm thinking something along the lines of this combo: Polini 177cc sports cylinder ($$ won't allow the 187cc race cyl/stroker combo ) Polini sport exhaust Likely ported cases etc, Polini intake and likely a 28 or 30mm PWK carb. Along with new cables and other bits. As I've said I know zilch about Vespas, but to me that seems like it could be a good combo? Reading the manual it's rated at 7.5hp so anything should be an improvement hahaha

I wouldn’t go for that exhaust
Grab one from Indonesia, they got decent expansion chamber exhausts for cheap.

I didn't have my license so I rode it on trails and off-road gravel paths. I think it was 180 cc and it flew! The only downside was that damn half fork which kept bending (not meant for off-road I guess) and eventually the top of the front tire would rub on the downtube. We got it repaired by a guy that heated it and straightened it out but, in 6 months, it was bent again. I loved that thing as it kicked the butts of all the other guys riding mini bikes and Honda mini trails and even a few 125 motorcycles. Bill
