Hello, I was wondering if it's normal to have rubber caked in the CVT case. Literally rubber on every surface except for moving prices. I took it off for the first time and saw that. I ordered a new belt right away knowing the belt was most likely rubbed down without measuring. So I am just wondering if this is normal belt behavior. 930 miles on scooter. Thanks for the help.

Depends on how much dust is caked. I get some dust in mine. I wouldnt be suprised if a new chinese belt and new pullys didnt dust alot at first.
It really helps if you post a picture of these things.

I've cleaned off a lot of it so I won't be able to show you. The case was so covered that you couldn't see the back of the CVT case because of the rubber. Also before I purchased the scoot it had been sitting for a while.

If the belt is worn down, the dust has to go somewhere. After cleaning that and the new belt go over the whole CVT. Then when it goes back together, check it in short order to make sure it doesn't look like anything is wrong. The main thing is if it is wearing the belt fast you'll need to figure out why. Could be a cheap Chinese belt.

Okay I'll be sure to do that and look over the variator and clutch when putting the new belt on. Hoping it is just a cheap belt. Thanks for the help.

I found out from checking the CVT that my clutch had broken. Not the spring but the place where the spring sits was snapped. So I need a new clutch. Any recommendations for 49cc GY6?

this is how dirty my cvt was after 2 years of non-cleaning Mine was like this but just a little more dirty with rubber. I can take pictures of some of the corners where I couldn't get to because the pullys were in the way.

this is how dirty my cvt was after 2 years of non-cleaning Mine used to be a bit worse than that until I cut a nice large half moon hole in my cover and drilled some other holes in it as well. So, either it is running cooler and the belt is not wearing as bad or, and this is more likely, all the fine bits of rubber are getting blown out as I drive. Bill P.S. I also added a drilled clutch bell that has a built-in fan so, that probably helps blow the dust out too.
