2005 zuma 50cc 2t ... i am guessing that this 'empty' pipe is part of some sort of exhaust gas regurgitation. the rotten exhaust that i just took off didn't have this and i certainly don't recall seeing a port on the engine that it might connect to. the logical solution seems to be to just cap it off but i haven't yet found anything in my huge collection of junk that might do the job. the best i can think of is just take a bolt that i found that is close in size, wrap it with aluminum foil and jam it it there as best i can. i kinda think that might be short-lived as the foil would likely cook off from the heat. suggestions ?

i could, of course, just remove the exhaust, tap it to take the appropriate size bolt, and call it a day ... but i am hoping that someone has a quick fix for this that i just can't think of right now.

It doesnt belong to the exhaust. 2Strokes dont the anything connected to their exhaust. Is it attached to anything? Can you trace where it starts and ends?

If you have access to a welder just cut it off and weld it up. You could just crimp it closed and fold it over itself. Some of the newer 2T’s had that emission stuff. I’ve has a few over the years that have had it.

Fresh air vent blah blah emissions stuff. I’d just crimp it over to hold ya over until you can get a better exhaust. My experience has been if they have air stuff attached they also have some sort of catalytic converters going on which is an inherent restriction. I swapped my stock TGB to an earlier, still stock, non-cat pipe and it was an amazing difference.

it branches off of the exhaust pipe itself and ends where you see the open end in the pic. pure, unmuffled exhaust comes roaring out of it ... and it definitely has a factory look to it. never thought of welding ... i dont weld, but my grandson does so i might just let him do it if i cant come up with a quick easy fix. thanks for the replies !

in order to go for an evening ride i wrapped a bolt with aluminum foil and jammed it in there. a 2 stroke will never be quiet, but at least now pedestrians a block away are not turning around to see what all the racket is ! lost 1 kph top speed according to gps ... not enough to worry about ... wind could easily account for that.

High temperature JB Weld the bolt into the hole.
