I'm tired of throwing money to the breeze. I hate when i get crabby cuz i'm overdue to step outside for a smoke break. I smell like a chimney. So i'm quitting smoking. At the time of me writing this, it's been 40 hours since my last cigarette. i've saved roughly $17 at this point too! I've been reading the advice lines, checking my withdrawl timelines, and been keeping myself busy (mostly at work lol). What to expect while quitting: vapingdaily.com/quitting-effects/nicotine-withdrawal-symptoms-timeline/If you're quitting smoking and need some support - or if you have a setback - heres the thread that'll help. And remember, all that money you'll be saving is more scooter parts!

And remember, all that money you'll be saving is more scooter parts! I used Allen Carr's audiobook where he claims it is easy (the easy method to quit smoking) without cravings or other issues. I listened to his 6 hours book and when it was done, I never had another cig. and that was 3 years ago. I had smoked for 35 years or so. I gave myself a nice raise and I feel so much better. The one thing that helped me to know was that the small cravings I did get, went away after about 10 minutes and, instead of getting worse and worse...they got easier as time went on. I even carried an unopened pack with me for about 2 weeks...after that, I threw them away. Best of luck to you. Bill

IIRC it was NYE 2010 when I ran out of smokes and said I'm gonna see how long I can go without buying a pack/carton. If you don't count a couple pack lapse shortly after from anxiety related to my grandmother's funeral and being around a bunch of people, then it's been 8+ years. I did nothing. I just stopped. I was smoking anywhere from 1-4 packs a day (smoked a lot if I was just hanging around outside with friends, only 1-2 packs a day normally). First started smoking some at 12. Regularly smoking by 15-16.
At this point, they're disgusting to me. I bummed a smoke from a friend probably 5 years ago. Same brand and all that I used to smoke. We were in the truck and I just had an urge. Lit it, puffed it, tossed it out. Said, "Sorry dude, but that was nasty."
I quit briefly years before that and I was a mean mother... for about 2 weeks. Then I was fine. Everything pissed me off for those 2 weeks though. Not really sure why I didn't get that last time. Even if you feel crappy, it's worth doing it though. I knew I had to quit when I was paying $25-30 for a whole carton. They're so ridiculous compared to that now.

If you get in a tight spot, substitute the nicotine with big dose of caffeine and/or blood sugar. Lots of coffee and food. You can taper those down later on when you're solid. Keep candy in your pocket and drink lots of coffee.
I voted for the local big tax increase, I think that is a huge incentive to quit right there. In my area a pack is $10 now.

My younger brother is trying to quit right now. Unfortunately we work together daily. Its not too bad, I just let everything roll off my back for the moment. I commend him daily for the effort. He vapes the lowest nicotine occasionally during the day, but I think vaping is just torturing him.

After smoking for too many years and quitting several times I decided to try vaping. It isn't healthy but I still get a very small dose of nicotine that helps me with my ADD. I know I just traded one for the other but my lungs are much clearer and my heart is happier. I can walk to work 2 blocks and not have to take a break to catch my wind. I'm not suggesting anyone switch but if you just can't give up the nicotine its a slightly better alternative.

Stick with it! The first few days are tough but it gets easier, just keep yourself busy and get rid of all smoking items. Space yourself from those who do smoke, at least initially. I smoked for 15 years and quit 8 years ago after watching my mother die from lung cancer treatment. Not a pleasant experience for either party.

Just quit myself about two months ago. Been on the patch for nearly 3 years before that trying to quit. Finally just had enough of quitting. Every time I missed a patch I said to myself one will be ok. Then two. I like to breathe now. And have normal blood pressure. Food tastes great again. Clothes smell better. Car smells better. Good choice.....

I think the hardest part is that -everyone- i work with smokes. They know i'm quitting but they dont realize that break times are my trigger - but i cant not take breaks cuz leaving the blast room disarms the blast hoses. When i'm stuck in the lift, i cant just close up and rearm the blast system, its a process. So the regular breaks we all took drive me batshit right now.

I've never started smoking, so i dunno hiw it feels. Don't like the taste, not even the funny herbs where theres plenty of here in Holland. But i guess its like alcohol or sugar or anything really that you like and have to give up.
I've seen people stop and never touch a sigarette again. They don't seem to have a hard time by the way they bring it. Just stop one day and thats it. Others (like my dad) replapse after the littelest of setbacks and then he's back to all out smoking again. When you'd yell BOO! very loudly he's back to smoking.
When i did my semester abroad i was partying every night getting drunk almost every time. I decided it was kinda getting rediculous and i decided to stop drinking alcohol. Man, i can tell you thats tough! With all these students, parties, girls and not to mention the crazy funny stuff you might get into on a night out.

I smoke and wish I did'nt now. I gave up for 4 yrs but it needs to stop again so maybe this will help the situation. I always think to myself that it aint as bad as when I was a full blown alcoholic and addict many yrs ago now neither of which I have had for 15 yrs. It cost's me £13 ($17.22) at least a week for one ounce of loose tabacco and I reckon to spend £39 ($51.66) every three weeks and the odd pack of tailor mades as well. last time I quit did not use vapes or anything as I personally would find it a wind up just like people saying would I like alcohol free lager.

I gave them up almost 8 years ago. 22 years of that shit was enough for me. My only regret was starting in the first place. I can't fucking stand the stench of them now. Feels great to breathe better and taste foods. And, on top of that, I don't get sick very often, and when I do, it's only for short periods. Sore throats are not as bad either.
