Hi all just decided to join seems like a good place to learn about scoots and get help whene needed I've been looking for a nice Yamaha Zuma 50cc 2 stroke for about a month now here in Michigan they want stupid prices of $1500++ I came across a 2001 kymco zx50 2 stroke with 5300mi. How many miles can you get out of the crankshaft before issues arise? The guy has new tires on it a tecgnias exhaust he is throwing in and arche carb and 70cc cylinder is it worth $650 he is asking?

Not exactly sure on the mileage to expect, but it's not that uncommon to see 20,000 miles or so on name brand scooters that have been well taken care of. KBB says $690 retail, $370 trade in so I'd definitely want to talk them down.

Welcome to the forum,it is indeed a good place to be,I ride a Yamaha Jog here in the UK and they do carry a price premium but it,s worth it IMO,one route into name brand scoots is to purchase one that needs TLC and cure it.Over here you can get a project scoot for $300,my current daily commuter started as an $100 non runner but I think I got lucky(for once)

Welcome from far eastern Michigan...Bangkok. I am curious why you ask about crank life? IMO...on a 50cc zing-zing, that is last thing you will see, unless you throw 20 hp at it! Since you are new to 2T fun...the wear parts are related to the top end. Cylinder, piston and ring. The maintenance is more demanding, depending on your tuning and diligence, but a good, properly installed crank will last for crazy years! My '84 Honda still has the OEM crank and bearings. No reason, yet, to replace them.
It still starts and runs and smokes my groceries every day!
You will find the people here and information to your liking. Waaay to much to absorb at one time.
Good luck and have fun!

Hey,JJ, I'm brand new here. Also in MI, Ann Arbor. I just bought an '05 ETon Beamer. Eton, like Kymco was made in Taiwan. I say was, 'cause they are now out of business. The Beamer has 2000 miles on it, looks ok, except for a crappy "custom" paint job. I paid $600. NADA says it's average retail today is around $400. Yeah, I'm comparing apples and oranges, but, maybe that helps.
