I pulled my scooter out from winter hibernation and found acorns packed inside my airbox. My helpful suggestion. Put cotton balls soaked in peppermint oil threw out the scooter in the nick and crannies.

I keep rodent repellers plugged in around the garage and a big foam owl for the birds. The only thing I have seen is a dead rat that died on the floor in front of my bench after eating the poison I had outside.

Hmmm, as a young boy in Minnesota, we had some huge grey's in our massive oak tree. Pesky, smart and quick.
My take on you problem is this: Looks like bait to me! Tastes quite good with some bacon wraps around the breast meat whilst roasting.
Even before my wrench learning days, I could handle a long bow. Squirrels, pheasants and an occasional ear of corn or leg-of-brother.

Moth balls will also keep all kinds of critters out of things.

Title sounds like a Country song....Got acorns in my Airbox...lol. You bet! Something that Blake Shelton could make popular while drunk on stage...
"Got acorns in my airbox, and whisky in my shoes... My girl is eatin' bon-bons, trying to steal my booze..."

I found out why mice are eating up wires on new vehicles. The insulation is made out of soy instead of petroleum product. Try to fix one thing, start another.

Moth balls will also keep all kinds of critters out of things. I've done the moth ball thing for many years with good success. Also duct tape over the airbox openings and a plug of loose steel wool in the exhaust
