Hi all, I'm new here and thought I would ask a question. I have a Honda Met and thinking of putting on a pair of whitewalls....I just like the look on the graphite color of my scoot. I was looking at these Shinko Whitewall 3.00 x 10. The price is right but I don't want a tire that won't last long. How do they grip on wet roads? Dry roads? Any replies will be appriciated.

No experience personally here but i know others that have em and love them on their scoots. I think that would look real nice on a Metro. Post some pics if you do go with whites will ya?

the shinko white walls are worthless in 5000 miles i have went thru 3 as the rear tire on my stella they are not good at all on wet roads and fair is the best i can say for a dry road the only time they felt like they had great grip was when my crank seized at 60 mph

I had looked at the Continental ww tire but they are twice the cost as the shinko. I don't want to have to change tires every 5k and I do want something that will last a reasonable amount of miles. I'll sit for a bit and see if anyone else has an opinion. Thanks for the replies....keep em coming!

no not changed every 5000 miles more like ever 2000 miles before the rear was bald yeah there is a great option and it allows you to run any tire you want and turn it into a white wall portawalls.com/i think these are the ones that bagga put on his wifes rat ruck

I run low profile Continental tires here and am a FIRM believer of: you get what you pay for.

Ok you talked me into it. I would rather pay a little more and get what I really want....I like the tread design on the Continetal tire better anyway. I think I'll get those and be done with it. Thanks for the quick replies guys!

So is the Continental a radial or bias ply? I do town riding, short hauls to Wally World and such....no highway....yet! I don't know if a bias would grip quite as well as a radial but for my driving I don't know that it would make any big difference, that is until I pick myself up from a spill by going around a corner too fast.

if you are looking at the same ones the stella and vespa guys run they are rated to 62 mph i have riden other scoots with them on they have more grip then the shinkos but they are not corner carvers if you want a corner carver you might want to look to see if they make a prima white wall in your size i am actauly considering these for my stella if i stay white wall if not i will be going with the zippys on that
