I recently found out about this mod. There's a technical article about it which i'll briefly introduce here. So whats this budget mod about? The mod makes it possible to use a Piaggio rear pulley on a minarelli engine. Note, stock minarelli pulleys are 115mm and stock Piaggio pulleys are 128mm. A bigger rear pulley will give you better acceleration from a stand still. A bigger rear pulley creates a bigger ratio in the transmission which makes the motor pull harder. You'll need the pulley from a so called old version Piaggio motor. Generally speaking Piaggio motors come in two versions, 'old' and 'new' version. Old versions are found on pre 98' scoots like the Piaggio/Puch Sfera, Quartz, Zip RST, Typhoon, NTT, NRG, Vespa ET2. New versions are found on Gilera Runner, Stalker, Piaggio zip (with the single front swingarm, not the telescopic fork) Liberty and every other post 98' Gilera/Piaggio/Vespa scoot. Brent did a review about overrange pulley alternatives where he reviewed the new version Piaggio pulley. Those are 134mm and are way more difficult to make work than the 128mm old version pulley. www.roost.si/articles/pulley/Im gonna do this mod myself very soon. I'll post pics and my experiences in my build thread and this thread as well. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/8764/70mph-daily-driver-doppler-pulley

Just to bump an older thread. I sell a rear pulley that is 122mm in size. Along with a 99mm front pulley that made for a great budget over range that allowed me to keep the stock electric start and gain some topend and quicker 0-30 speeds. A longer belt is of course needed but no modifications for the trans tunnel was necessary.

What model belt are you using to take full advantage of that pulley?
