Got this scoot free from a relative a few weeks ago, and I have been asking questions here and there and thought I would start a rebuild thread to keep everything together. T This bike 05 Vento Triton R4 was run till the clutch broke then thrown in the corner of a garage for three years to rot. Has about 4200 miles on odometer. The tank was half full of orange rust filled fuel, carb and lines fouled, mold all over plastic ect- ripped it all apart and got it running well. Ordered a new CVT front and rear on the way, going to paint all the panels this week - going for the blacked out look like 90GTVert did on his triton. Looks sick - like a bat bike. The fuel tank is rusted internally and I am thinking I could: 1. Buy a new tank 2. Have present tank sandblasted on the inside #1. - can't seem to find any at scooter parts normal sites - anyone know where I could buy a new tank - wish someone sold an aftermarket plastic one. #2. - sandblasting - will this work on the material these tanks are made of? Suggestion or comments appreciated. I will post some pics soon.

hey Rein - you still have a tank for sale? I saw you did on an old post on another board. And you know that black scoot is nasty sweet - you just won't admit it. Red is nice too...just not for me.

Fanks for the link man, but they are sold out. haha I want my scoot to look simular to this one....ever see it before?? Pretty simple. Paint everything black. Remove the little "windshield" on the handlebar cover and bondo the holes. Ditch the mudflap and relocate the rear turn signals. Get a black shock (this is the one I used, although I don't think it was that expensive back then, so look around. www.scootusa.com/238.htm). No centerstand. No mirrors at that time (bar ends clean it up and work well). No fan cover. That's about all that was done appearance wise at that time.

Cool on the electro tanks cleaning. I am going to do that! Black it is - mudflap ditched - it will be different but similar. I used the dining room for a parts drying booth - to humid outside. I went with a satin textured black with silver flakes in it for the fairing and side covers, flat black for the rubberish stuff, and semi gloss high temp paint for the metal. I think it will look sick. :wheelie: Wife was not real thrilled when she can home from playing tennis and say the fairings drying. haha

Looks good. "Surprise honey, I invited the scooter to dinner!" ;D haha yeah RIGHT? The "textured" paint I used feels like sandpaper to the touch and is flat - it hides most flaws and painting errors like runs and sags - it self levels. And it has silver or gold flakes in it. I went with the silver. You can not see the lakes in the pic but is looks sinister in the sun. And my son is a youth leader at church....I am so bad. :disco:

I dont know if im looking at it right- but the link supplied for the new fuel tank from partsforchinesescooters-- it looks like they're selling just the top part of the tank. Cuz you can see the tables surface thru the gas cap hole and where the level sensor goes... Is it just me or what??
