The inside of the tank is coated metal, so my guess is that the flash just gave off a reflection from the inside of the tank that closely matches the color of the table.

Just a little update, all fairings and plastic removables have been removed, cleaned and painted. Last night I took off the rear wheel to check the brakes - looked good, removed the oil injector pump and oil tank and removed oil injector throttle cable. Also removed the exhaust to clean and spruce it up a bit - BLACK MAYBE?? haha
Now I need to clean the inside of the Gas tank - rusted - using a muratic acid technique I found on the internet. New variator and clutch should come soon and then the fun part - putting it all back together - IF I can remeber what goes where!! lol

Pictures!!! lol keep up the good work. that muratic acid is wicked! be careful! Will do. Right now it is a frame with wires and engine and everything else is laying all over the garage.....wheels and everything. Paint is done, busy week, this weekend I will degrease the engine (oil injection had a leak before I removed it and made a mess, and clean the frame real well. Install the variator and clutch when it gets here from Scrappydog, and start piecing it back together. Look for pics this weekend.

sorry I have not updates this, all I have to do before I put all the panels back on is flush the front brake fluid and install the tank. All my parts are here and fit, frame has been degreased and derusted (I like to make up my own words). Then a few wiring demons to sort out, seems like the rear tail light does not like to come on all the time but brake light works fine - flashers and tail are "temperamental". Going to clean all the grounds and check/clean all the connections. Then a before and after photo shoot!!!
I think I read somewhere the ventos are notorious for tail light issues. Any suggestion on where the problem could lie?

Well - tore into the front brake system this evening only to find more issues. Rotor is way out of spec - .034" less than the service limit (AWK!!) and the piston in the master cylinder is so corroded on the plunger side it is frozen into the case.
I think I am slowly buying a new bike - piece by piece. hahaha
So, ordered the whole shabangee - Front Disc Rotor and Front Disc Brake Assembly which includes everything - Lever, master cylinder, brake light switch and wiring, brake fluid hose, caliper with shoes and rotor. All of that for $137 shipped UPS ground from partsforchinesescooters. Only place where I could get it all. Some were out of stock. They seem like a pretty solid parts place tho....
On the positive side - my new Bando Belt arrived today. This thing should work GREAT - EVENTUALLY. lol

Dude, you shouldve said you needed it. I have at least 2 brand new sets, exactly like you described. Comes with everything already attached and ready to mount on. I probably wouldve given you one for 50 bucks.
