so i cant make up my mind if i should go with a 72cc or 80cc BBK. now here is the other parts i will be using engine wise a performance cam shaft, uni filter, and a new jet (of course). now what i want out of it is uphill speed, specifically i am making an uphill battle type scooter. but it still has to be able to have room to rev on the down hill. I.E. i don't want to blow the motor on the downhill. now for now all i am doing is the engine mods, i will do the cvt after i feel out the motor and see where i want it to sit. more then likely i will go with 6gram DR. sliders and a new clutch and kevlar belt. so help me make a decision on the engine base please.

Myself: I would go with the Scrappydog 72cc, big valve head (and carb), forget the camshaft (which could fubar your low rpm power) and add a crankcase breather kit and free flow exhaust.

I have replaced several crankshafts when people went to 80+cc kits.The Rod bearing was the problem. I would stay with the 72 cc kit.

Wish I would have went with the 72cc and not the 80cc. I would be put the first 10-15 miles on it and changing my oil instead of grinding on my case. C'est la vie

My rod bearing failed at 2,003 miles with a 50mm kit (installed a new crank with the kit specifically to test for bearing failure that I'd heard about). There are a lot of folks that say they have no trouble with the 80s, but there are enough that have had trouble to make me think a 70 is a better choice for anything but a racer.
