i have a tao tao. i installed the BBK. been running fine for about 5 months. i was riding one day and it lost power gradually now it smokes badly. on of the rings gets stuck on the piston. i freed it up and it ran without smoke for about 10 mins then started again. is there something i can do short of a new piston?

Wow, I told you guys Vegas was a scoot town!!!! Anyways, How many miles and what size bbk 72/83?? At the very least new rings but, possibly a rebuild if other damage is done. Go to Scrappys and get new rings and a piston. Cheapest prices in town and Rick is on Tropicana since your local.

As long as nothing is damaged, I'd get a new set of rings, gap them, and install them. It should be fine after that. Just make sure the ring lands (grooves) are clean before installing the new rings. If you can't get it clean for any reason, get a new piston too. There should be no need to make the ring land larger.
