Hi new owner of a 2003 50cc Malaguti F12 Phantom Foggy Rep Liquid Cooled. Just over 3,000 miles. It has a Malossi 70cc big bore. Upgraded clutch, carb, variator and a few other bits and pieces. Runs great but needs a little attention. Either an oil leak from tank itself, or the oil pump, or one of the transmission oil seals, as its wet around the casing. It was also wet under the seat, but that may of been due to an overfill. Not sure yet. Just picked it up cleaned up the wet parts, and seeing where they reappear. Knowing it needs some attention, I have a little project ahead of me.
So anyway, learning as i go on. I'm sure i'll have questions and this seems like an excellent resource.
My understanding is it has the Minarelli horizontal 50cc engine. I've not had the chance do a whole lot of research. It was actually a surprise gift from my wife.
I'll get with the previous owner to find out more on the upgraded parts so i get a better understanding of what parts are in her, so i have somewhere to start on what to replace.
I'm reasonably mechanically minded. I've done big bores before on some previous bikes, but i'm not a mechanic by trade, so unfortunately slow and try and research as much as possible as to NOT learn by my mistakes. But have most if not all of the tools. Just really missing a good stand, a press and some bearing pullers.
So a question to start off with, being it has the Minarelli horizontal 50cc engine.. Whats the best service manual to download, as i know this engine is commonly used in other scooters. I can't seem to find anything relating to the Malaguti F12 itself, i don't think they sold many of these down in the US.
I'm sure i'll have lots of questions in the very near future as i plan on tearing in soon !
