New to World of Scooters

:scoot2: scooter only has 85 miles (I bought it new) Im having fun and feeling independant. I live in the city and have been using public transportation A few days ago it started skipping. I had plugs, gas, oil checked by a friend. Ive watched some videos on net about checking, cleaning carbs but dont want to mess with it as im not very mechanically inclined. I cant seem to find a garage that wants to even look at it even if they are motorcycle station! I have a chinese 49 cc. Any help anyone can give me would be great. Has anyone else had this problem and how did it get resolved?

If it's a four stroke the valves could need adjustment. Aw, come on, get a little grease under your fingernails.

Assuming it's a 4 stroke, start with the valve adjustment and see if it continues. They aren't always set right from the factory.

This is why when anyone asks wther to buy one of the Chinese scooters, I tell em not unless you are prepared to fix it yourself. Now that you have it, get ready to learn some things Don't be afraid to ask folks here to explain terms you don't know, and wicki and youtube are great for learning new things.

The feeler guage you need to do the valve adjustment is available at a place like O'Reilly's auto parts. My set cost around $7. A cheap small metric socket set, you'll need to use 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm for most maintenance, and a phillips screwdriver should be a good place to start. If you havn't changed the oil on the scooter yet, you will want to do that also.

LOL, yes they are. I had to get that little wrench seperate. I think the valves are the only thing that I use 9mm for.
