Scooter says it should have 15w40 oil. I am running royal purple 15w40 synthetic oil with 100cc big bore kit. Have heard several discussions about synthetic oil being used that it is a no no, because of clutch slippage. Truth to this or is what I use now ok?

That's like Chevy or Ford.
Some say synthetic after engine has had a good breakin period.
Others are die hard conventional.
Some have seen leakage with synthetic. Also, it has better lubrication, so this may be where the slippage statements come from.
I, myself will stick with conventional.

I buy the cheapest walmart conventional oil i can get. Either 5w30 or 10w30, whatever is less at the time.

if you can afford it, go for synthetic. These engines have a dry clutch so there are no slippage issues, and syntetic lubricates better than mineral. These engines are really harsh on oil too, so you want the best you can get

I have used 25 different oils over the years , 15/40 Shell Rotella T6 T5, Delo or Delo 400 LE synthetic work just as good if not better than most scooter specific brands . Walmart is the best price all the time Amsoil is awesome for the guy who hates changing oil , i have had scooters come in the shop with 6 ounces of oil since the last oil change and still running fine. You can run a synthetic after your first oil change in my opinion or about 600 miles or 965 KM I have worked on 100's of scooters all brands and CC's to 700 e Kymco i was a dealer ! Keep changing the oil it keeps the head and cylinder temps consistent and you get a much better running scoot with less troubles in the long run .. One more thing some oils do work better depending the state of your motor ie the up keep ! lol
