IMO, i think thats a dangerous idea. Yes, it can be a life saver in 4+ wheels, but 2 wheels? There are too many variables. And what happens if those variables aren't 100% perfect? I think its an idiotic idea just to try and sell more bikes. One that puts the rider(s) at risk way more than without it.

Even if it helps stop you from slamming into the car ahead.....the car behind driven by the texting teen will still run you over just as flat and dead.

Its thier weak attempt at trying to be "state of the art technology " Just make a good product @ a fair price like you used to do....been riding H-D's for about 30 years , I would never buy anthing they made in the last 10 or so years,! Still kickin on my 1985 sturgis ...wont get anything newer... My china scoot gets more care free miles than the new Harleys..

I agree with all of you fellows. When I drive/ride something, I want total control over ALL aspects of the task. I do not want a computer steering for me, or braking for me, or limiting anything I might want to/have to do with the vehicle to save my life. I do not want ABS, or traction control, or any other of that stupid B.S. crap they have tried to force on us all. I disable all of that I can on my owned vehicles and will never, ever buy something new...even if I could afford it. Don't even get me started on "autonomous" vehicles. I have lost count of the death toll thus far but it will get much higher before they realize that electronics screw up...often and you can NOT write an algorithm or program that can make even 1/10000000th of the decisions a human mind can make in a split second while driving.
Man, I really am turning into one of those old guys I used to make fun of.

These are the same aforementioned minds that would rather text than watch the road. The AI that powered the ghosts in the old Pac Man games may be more capable of rational thought in some instances. I don't claim to be exempt from that either. I may not be on my phone keeping up with who's doing what or who on social media, but speeding and things like that are not the brightest either.

Yeah, but if i go down i want to go down cause of me. Okay, my fault. Like last week. Even though the jerk cut in front of me on a turn then slammed his brakes. I still should have been ready for it. That'll come with time. If i go down cause of some tech, well i'm going ballistic. Again, to many variables for that crap on a bike. A car? I'm sure it's already saved countless lives. Then again, much safer getting slammed in a car than on a bike.

Brent, I said: ..."of the decisions a human mind CAN make." Ha ha, this, of course, does not mean that all humans choose to make them. I have almost been hit by about 12 people driving while texting when on my scoot. I wish I were brave/stupid enough to follow each and every one of them and then walk up as they exit their vehicle and say: "Hey, let me see you phone" and then throw it on the ground and smash the crap out of it...then walk away. My boss texts me when he drives but, he uses the speech to txt app where he speaks...it texts...and sends it on his voice commands. Why does everyone not use this? He has used it for years. I agree about the speeding stuff though...I too am not without sin in this area let us say. Bill

Bikers.. at least the new generation anyway.. want speed, they want style, and they want it at a reasonable price. Harley tries too hard to add luxury and convenience, and tries too hard to put their name on everything NOT a motorcycle and sell it. What they should be doing, is listening to their POTENTIAL customers and what they are howling for. I'm sure the 70 year old biker with the Harley brand riding jacket, Harley brand bandana, and Harley brand cock ring might be happy with brakes that auto engage, but the guys (and gals) we cater to, want a bad ass ride at a middle class workers price and that's what we try to deliver.

But this was exactly what I wanted of my motorcycles in 1975
My first ride on the then incredible Yamaha XS1100 back in the late 70's was a game changer with it's shaft drive and warp drive acceleration.
The 1978 price? Just UNDER $3,000 US

Automatic braking. Hmm, didn't there used to be cruise control for bikes? Man it would be a perfect setup to have both, then you could ride and text. I'm joking of course.

Harley's profits are driven by aftermarket merchandise and accessories. Not innovation that consumers want.
