After a short ride in the cold this afternoon, I put the scoot on the lift and decided to pull the carb and intake so I could find and hopefully reseal the lower intake wherever it is leaking. I think I had this same problem with the previous build of this motor. There is not much sealing surface where the intake bolts on next to the cylinder. In the process I pulled the CVT cover and removed the CVT components so everything will be ready when the longer belt arrives Thursday or Friday. I noticed after removing the rear pulley there was a bit of gear oil under the primary shaft. I drained the gearbox, pulled the old seal, put in a new seal and refilled the gear oil. FYI: I screw a 10" piece of red NGK plug wire into the gear oil fill hole until I refill the gearbox, it would be hard to miss that.

So how cold was it 65f? You better start bundling up, haha!

In the picture, the tire looked quite close to the bracket.

In the picture, the tire looked quite close to the bracket. Yes it is, very close but has never rubbed there. As a matter of fact to install the wheel I have to deflate the tire, and pry it past the exhaust mounts just right to get the axle splines to engage. The rub marks on the edge are from trying to use a different shock and the rub marks on the other side in the same place are from where it contacts the center stand. Stock tire size is 120/70-12 The tire mounted is a 130/70-12

My order from ST came this evening, so I am over at Scootopia unboxing and checking things. Unfortunately the Polini belt #248.040 is not going to work. It is too narrow and or long. Specifications are listed as 750x16.7x28 My measurements are as follows. 739 around the OD with a tape measure. 16.24 wide. and 30 degrees I also ordered a set of 15/38 primary gears made for an AF16. I have always noticed the large gear for the counter shaft is splined for the Honda AF16, but it is smooth bored at 15mm for the Kymco SC10. I have wondered for a while if there is a chance that Honda AF16 primary gears could somehow be made to work in the Kymco SC10 gearbox. So I ordered a set of the Honda gears to find out. It turns out the smallest diameter on the splined part of the Honda gear is also 15mm. The Honda gear will not slide onto the Kymco intermediate shaft but I feel certain I can press it on using a press. If everything goes right the Honda primaries at 15/38 used with the Kymco 13/45 secondaries will get me to 8.77 That gearing might work for me on a larger stroker (120) build at some point. I also got one of the Mini Rotor / stator iggy kits made for the Honda AF16/18. I was planning on using it for the 83cc build, but who knows where it will end up. As I was checking the iggy over I noticed a lump in the harness, looks like a circuit board to me.....strange. [/url Of course I gotta cut into it to see what it is!
I looked the semiconductor part up, it is some sort of thyristor circuit. I originally figured it was some type of signal conditioning circuit for the trigger coil, but after cutting it apart I found the black wire with red tracer from the stator is connected to it. Does anyone know about these mini rotor kits?

Looking closer at the circuit and its connections, it appears the thyristor circuit switches the black/r wire coming from the stator to ground when its gate is triggered. I have no idea what all of that means.

Wonder if the entire intermediate gear from an AF16 would fit,if so you have plenty to choose from!I remember Brent had a mystery circuit board in the iggy harness of maybe an NCY or Hoca small flywheel Mina setup..

Looking that good, I bet it's not cheap.

I bet a santa clause machine could spit those out pretty quick. Just the blanks of metal they start with cost $$$$

Looking at the Kymco vs Honda gears;Waaay more time and machining to cut splines in gears and shafts,so the simple/cheap method is a smooth gear/shaft with press fit,,a further refinement that Kymco designed into their machines..Hopefully back stepping into the Honda splined gears will give your 'unubtainium' gears a new direction for your Kymco engines..

The Kymco final gear is splined to the wheel axle. I think the Hondas are not. Could you check that for me? I think you may have stock Honda set laying around. I think the Honda countershaft is also a larger diameter on one end. The Kymco counter shaft is the same diameter on both ends.
