Hello. My name is Doc Williams and while old to all things electrical and mechanical, I am new to scooters and 49cc 2-stroke engines. I friend donated a Chinese 49cc scooter to me ("You can have it or I'm taking it to the dump"), and, well, being who I am, I took this like a parent would take a kidnapping ransom demand for their firstborn, and ran right over and rescued it. Anyway, here I am, now with a workbench full of parts and a stubborn attitude and you guys probably know the rest. I'll be begging for help here shortly and am thanking everyone in advance for their help. Cheers! Doc.

Doc. There is a wealth of information for you here. Just poke around the directory and Scoot FAQ and it will start to sink in. What scoot brand and model scooter did you rescue? We all like pictures here it gives us a better idea of what you're playing with.

Geely JL500T-21with what I think is an AD50 Minarelli knock-off. I'd post up a picture but at the moment, it's a pile of parts. Here's a photo of the current situation...

Well you got one thing going for you. It's a two stroke. Easy to work on. And with that there's tons of after market parts for a horizontal minarelli based engine. You should be able to find parts for a decent price if need be. Nice freebie!

Welcome Doc! Don't be concerned with being a plebe! It makes communications so much easier if you say " I do not understand", or "I have zero experience". All of the right things are here on these pages!
BTW...I am a born "Bal-i-moron". Born at University Hospital, long prior to Honda coming to America. (Baltimore to WI, to MN, to CA, to UT, to CA, to MT, to Thailand!)
Build it brother!
