I got a heli coil kit on order and awaiting its arrival for my pulled head stud. havent tore it down yet cuz i wanted to do some carb tuning with my new jets.
I tore down my carb and found a 70 main in there. I followed Berts.. I mean Vert's (hehe) eton write up and went with the suggested 80 to start with.
My triton seemed to idle fine as I was messing with the idle and mixture. but wen I got on to test drive, it just sputtered and went no where. I got it to accelerate by pulling on the throttle ever sooo gently and gradually increase as speed increased to 20mphish and it fell on its face. Just went quiet so i let off the gas and reapplied and it corrected itself but the sputtering ensued.
After messing with it all morning, i decided to put my 70 back in and head home for the day. And it started up and ran fine like before the 80 swap.
Whats going on??

It's too rich with the 80 main. I've found that with a sport 70 kit you only need to go up a few sizes.
Make sure it isn't too lean with the 70, and I would recommend you get a 72, 75 and 78 main jet to try all the sizes in between.

This triton is mind boggling!! Unless this bike was that well tuned from the factory, I see no reason why it doesnt feel as responsive to my changes. guess i got a lot of understanding to accomplish.
So u think its too much fuel? What effect would changing the smaller jet have?

90GTVERT I need some feedback from you on this one... Is that it? simply too rich? What about those guys that get away with putting in 100's or bigger? How do their scoots even RUN??

Jet size depends on a bunch of stuff. No one jet will work for every setup, so anything you read online is a guess or a spec to use simply as a ballpark IMO. You need to tune for best power and check your spark plug's color and condition. Those things are more important than any info you can find from someone else's setup.
