I feel like this scooter is a black hole for my time and motivation in life its taking all my time and i am stuck in same spot trying to fix it and nothing change it still sucks, i dont mean because its low CC, in general its old and all falling apart. Even if i get new 150cc or motorcycle or a used car i will still be turning its nuts and bolts, trying to get most out of it its my hobby!
Its not common hobby when you live in downtown New York or Los Angeles don't you agree?! I feel like i am missing out on opportunities to make big money here, if i live somewhere in country slow paced life i could do it all day provided my bills were paid, LA is expensive city and me doing so so here below poverty level is pointless because I don't like it in LA just happen to live here, so if i stay here i stay for making good money or i move to country and do something else with my life at this point this scooter is distraction and thing that holds me down on my plans. I have hard time walking away from it though, i feel like i need to, but its tough to do. It feels like okey just this $20 bucks investment this new part or and i will a perfect reliable transportation, but its never like this i always end up fixing it almost every other day, and it never gets flawless. One of this days i think i will simply get my angle grinder and cut it in many small pieces and just throw it in the trash, because i need to walk away from it and selling it will not happen quick and by time i find customer to buy it i will already change my mind about selling it!
I need to start from a clean page without anything that holds me back only way to do it is to burn all bridges that lead back to my old lifestyle, next thing i will destroy is all my $500 worth of tools or just throw them away.
It has to be an impulse thing, like a sudden push i make, if i slow down for a second i will always fall back to old way, in a safe zone of doing what i used to do. Happened too many times.
Please tell me you understand what i am saying because its clear as day to me change need to happen in my life!

Hey katt...no great words of wisdom, though your asking shows some bone.
I have been financially poor and way above that. None of the having has ever been better than not having. My 33 year old son fits your apparent mold.
He became a high level swimmer reaching national status at 13. Two workouts per day...5am and 4 pm, six days per week. His pool commute was 45 miles EACH way, twice per day. He never complained about it ever, not did we. He received a scholarship and 4 years of University.
He drove himself to the pool-school-pool and home after workout at 16 years old. Good student working 18 hours per day. He drove an '96 Honda Civic...until 2 years ago. Bought with near 100K miles in '01 sold with 390K miles...Now on his second car. A 2015 Honda Accord. The original cost, plus good care far outweighs having to work on stuff every day.
Work hard and be smart with your money. Not so simple? I think folks make life harder than they need to. MY son lives in LA...Santa Monica. Not wealthy, but happy!

If money is tight, don't cut the scoot up. If you list it for even $50, that's $50 you wouldn't have if you chop it up and you won't waste any cutting tools. I did actually cut one of my scoots up and scrap it, but it was a nightmare as long as I owned it and I didn't want to pass it on to anyone else. Looking back, I prob should have just listed it for $50-$100 as a parts bike and got rid of it quick for at least a few bucks.
Keep all of your tools. If used properly, they'll save you money.
You basically just have to learn some self control and get something a bit better quality to ride if you're going to be happy scooting from what I'm reading. Any time you want to mod it, think about this experience and if you really want to go back to where you are now. Just change the oil and belt and such as needed to maintain it and leave it alone otherwise.

Like Brent says katt. I use to go batshit crazy and do everything and stopped enjoying it. Now I just do small bits and if I knows it going to be a problem I farm the work out to someone else. I saw the light when working under car in the pouring rain in winter and realised I was getting nowhere fast with 13 cars and trucks I had bought in serious states of repair. I was also doing removals and bicycle sales and hire jobs as well. Realised I had spread myself so thin and was making bugger all money. So I stopped from that day doing motors for a living and gave away or scrapped the lot. Yes I do believe it was an addiction which stemmed from other areas I had not addressed in life. 15 yrs later lifes ok, still has its ups and downs but I am aware of the addiction when it manifest's. It's still a hobby but I do have to be aware of it and yes I sometimes makes mistakes. Hope all works out for you.

Average scrap rates.
mixed aluminum .22 /lb
mixed copper .35 - 2.50 /lb
steel .06 /lb
Not sure what you think your time is worth, but I think you be further ahead if you sold it outright.

Not sure what you think your time is worth, but I think you be further ahead if you sold it outright. Its not about money at this point its about getting that thing out of the way and out of my life, it requires more attention than any of girlfriends i had. This is how i feel i know people who buy it will have headache with it or say some girl buys it and then rear brake cable (its old) fails and she hurt herself, i am not that type of person, i rather be at loss than do someone dirty. Keep all of your tools. If used properly, they'll save you money. Its like telling a junkie who wants to quit, hey bro just keep the needles and syringes around, might be useful for something non drug related. Self control is something i DON'T have, need to put myself in situation where i cannot run back to my toolbox and grab something to do a "quick fix to save a $10" i rather pay someone $40 and just focus on making money. because in my experience this attempt to save $10 dollar always takes more than hour of time and later problem might need to be re-adressed (if i do bad fix) so its illusion really i only lose money this way.
Even if i had a clean office job that pays me just $20 hour its better to spend 4 hours in warm office drinking coffee and pay someone that $80 for brake job than spend 4 hours under the dirty car covered in mud and oil and brake cleaner for an illusion of saving money.
I never understood people when they say their time worth money, i am not there yet, but i totally understand what they mean. My time worth nothing because of how i use it...

No Kidding.... Its clear that approach is not working well for you.
I look at as how may times are you willing to hit your finger with the hammer trying to drive a nail vs moving your hand out of the way after you have the nail started. Maybe wrenching scooters is not your calling. Hell I have ropes in my boat, but it doesn't make me a cowboy or have a desire to be one.

No clue what you mean... i like wrenching its just its i take it as obsession. Life is more than that and i spend all my time under the scooter tracking all oil leaks and other stuff like its point of my life to have that thing working when its piece of junk that needs to be scrapped and i need to move on also to something different and more productive and that is better for my health. All this oils they give cancers they dissolve in your fat and go up the bloodstream i know guy who was mechanic who got brain tumor and another car painter who got asthma i am getting paranoid i get something too, p.s. rubber gloves they never hold for more than hour then my hands get soaking wet and skin softens then after glove breaks stuff penetrate easy under the skin. Also i killed so much clothes with oil because i get so excited i don't even think about changing my clothes before i jump under the car. Okay all this is my personal issues i don't say everyone should quit being mechanics its my struggle and my justifications to quit, if you feel different its okay.

You can get an electric scooter, but then you have to worry about getting cancer from all the EMF

Something got to me last Sunday went as far as throwing all my years of junk collection like electric cords fluids parts cheap construction and painting tools etc. i had in the trash, only have 3 things left. - Scooter - Mechanical Hand Tools - Fishing supplies. Selling those now and i am done with manual labor until i move in the country, city life is for money making so while i am here i am doing what i can to make most of it.
From 12 crates full of junk i have now 3 trash containers full of junk and i feel like all the chains that hold me to this trashy dirty addictive life are getting broken.

Never go show the scooter let them come to you if they want it they will show up. You'll end up wasting more time and money and getting stressed out about it. Been there done that one.
