That 2 stroke scooter of mine absolutely refuses to start when it's cold. I set a space heater next to it for 20 minutes the other day and it started right up but that's a hassle so today I went out there and the idea occurred to me to plug off the air inlet on the underside of the air box while I press the start button. It fired up. It died as soon as I removed my finger from the hole so I did it again and left it plugged off for 5-8 seconds and then it stayed running.
I realize some of you have free-flow filters on your scoots so this method won't apply.

Basically you're creating a choke. A real choke works so much different than an auto enricher in cold weather.

Hm. I'm inspired. Manual choke mod? Is it possible to do without the auto-enricher?

Its possible but people mainly do it for race purpose. If you did away with your enricher on your scoot you would play hell getting it started. If you wanted a manual choke there are loads of aftermarket carbs with manual chokes instead of the auto choke. Im running a 21mm Dellorto with a manual choke on mine. Its loads better than the stock 18mm Mikuni i had on it. If you shop e-bay you can run across great deals on carbs sometimes. I have $30 in mine and it was barely used.
