it use to be safer to ride on the sidewalk FrankenMech a few decades ago on a Friday night where I lived in Ammanford as all the boy's would come down from the valley's mostly from Tumble. Most of them were mine coal miners, rail yard workers and farmers and when the pubs closed at 23.00 all go to the main crossroads and started fighting in the middle of the road, did not matter about cars and what the traffic lights were doing so I would go round them on the sidewalk and away home on my motorbike. I remember my first night in that town in the pub, it was early and a window smashed as someone got thrown through it from the street, the locals all picked up their drinks moved along the table and continued their conversation as though nothing had happened. I had seen films where people get thrown through the pub window but thats usually onto the street not the other way round. The police use to conveniently be out of town patroling the villages till things calmed down an hour later.
