Went for a ride this morning and brought the Gps along as i was running low on fuel and i needed a better MPG estimator. Well after i put in 1/2 GL and marked my china gauge and wrote down the current mileage, off i go. Road my current "to-work and back" and a few other places that are out of the way but will get you there for fun.
With that said i got home and looked at the Gps miles and time and it said Max speed 58Mph. Now come on now that's not right. 50-53Mph on one of the steep down hill's i rode? OK i'll buy that, but 58.0MPH... Nada, because im still alive and the scooter engine is too. Have you guys/Goosey seen this with your Gps? Mine is a Garman nuvi.
I wounder what the speed of a hammer is from point "Larry" to point "Garman"!

My Nuvi is accurate on the GPS itself. It's my understanding that if you download the tracklog that any GPS can give screwy results. I've seen numbers higher than my scoots can go and numbers lower than what I actually did. I quit using the track logs for anything other than posting a map on here. I calibrated my speedometer to my GPS and they are dead on all of the time. I can ride 100 miles and see 100 miles on both the GPS and the speedo. If I pass a radar sign both are right on. The only time I've had issues with the reading on the screen is "live" as I'm riding when going through a forest or something. In that case, it reads low.

an update wont hel the accruacy the number of sats you are picking up and how the goverment has the accuracy set that day thats right the us goverment controls the sats that are used for the gps unless you are set up with a sureveying contract your accruacy can very day by day as they play with the sats

I don't use mine a lot. Just when I don't know the rought for sure, and to test run. The updates, if you have to pay for them, cost almost as much as the GPS did.

Ya i seen that on the garman website. Like jmkjr72 said it may not do any good and im not going to pay to find out. I'll just use a car and tinker with it and if it's not working like it should no big deal but if it looks ok in the car i'll try a few different mounting on the scooter. Realy the sad thing is,is that i never really used it that much when i bought it but it did get me out of a few jams when i was on the road state to state. And to think, i payed top $$ for it back when it came out. (2007-2008) Ha,Ha i pay top $$ for somethaing i hardly ever use, yet buy a $1000 china bike i use every day.. I need to get my priorities straight. :stumped:
