I've heard the harbor freight press works well. I have the 20 ton Harbor Freight press and it does a nice job. The 12 ton would probably do just as well. Be sure what ever you get has enough throw to fit all of your parts, that was an expensive lesson learned the hard way.

Yes that one. It was on sale this weekend for $99, it might be on sale next weekend.

Success! Gears are in thanks to the harbor freight press. It's a bit sketchy, but for $100, not too bad and it took care of this job with no hassle.
I went for a test ride and it's awesome! Thanks for the recommendation in this thread, and others. Also, the 11:1 ratio seems perfect. Plenty of speed all over the range of elevation changes.
My new downhill top speed is 61.1 via GPS (Strava), but I was really taking it easy bc of CHT temps showing 325+. I kept it under 345, but had to take it easy. Next - check on jetting, etc. That's another issue, but this one is closed out for me - gears are working great.
They are a bit loud and I took a video before adding the tranny oil. Feel free to comment, but I'm hoping it's fine, with 100ml of fresh Malossi 80/90

Were they straight cut? Those get noisy.

Like Benji said the stage 6 straight cut gears are noisy. They are all like that.

The initial sound of the straight cut gears is disturbing but once you get used to it you won’t notice as much. Different oils may quiet them more then others but they will always have more noise then the stock helical cut gears.
