Its safe to use Threadlocker Blue 242 in aluminum crankcase, how much to apply?

242 is fine for threaded fasteners, I use just enough to cover the first few millimeters of threads and torque to spec.

I just making sure its not to strong for aluminum.

I suggest using Hondabond, Threebond, or Yamabond to seal the cases together.

I use either blue or red on every bolt on my scoot.

thanks for the tip i need wet gasket as well.

Yamabond is pretty expensive here, as we only have one supplier in the U.K. Been using it for year's, and would never use anything else for cases. Something like assembling an engine just is not worth cutting corners.

Never heard nor seen anyone ever use threadlocker on crankcase bolts. Never used it myself on either one of the motors i have ever rebuilt in my life.
My first and foremost question is, why would you???

Red loctite is really serious stuff and may take extra tools and care to remove a fastener. Blue is good for most everything. The threaded hole must be clean of all substances. How do you tighten the screws?

How do you tighten the screws? I got a 170cc GY6 on a honda ruckus. The thing shakes like crazy. Notorious for shaking themselves loose. I use red on the varilator nut, the clutch nut and the axle nuts. I have to use a torch to heat it up and an impact gun to loosen it. Then a brush to clean the threads off before I put it back on.

Well because it come with one originally i seen at the ends of the all crankcase bolts including ones that hold CVT cover white stuff (like oxidated theadlocker)
On and only one bolt out of crankcase come out without white stuff it had red thing like glue on it so i assume they used threadlocker on factory?

On the 150cc GY6’s i’ve pulled apart, blue was used at the factory. There is the remanents of blue on every bolt I pulled out. The thing is you can’t really torque down on those Chinese aluminum cases since it’s a real low grade of aluminum... you’ll strip the threads right out of the case. They make up for it with a tiny drop of blue that’s lets you get it 1/8 turn past snug and locks it w/o too much torque.
