It doesn't fit. The variator boss isn't counterbored to fit over the inner splines so it doesnt securely lock down the inner drive plate and starter gear and it doesn't leave enough exposed threads to get the nut on the crank.
Do I have the wrong variator kit, didn't buy it, came with the bike, or is this just the way it is and I need to take the little grinding stone to the inside of the variator boss. One of those cases of it would have fit a Suzuki or Italjet or whatnot, but not TGB.

This is the first time it's really hung me up, lol. I've got an airleak, I think, to chase down before fooling with the trans side more. It's doing that surging thing when you come off throttle.
This case got pulled and swapped for a built Mina engine almost two years ago after I cooked the top end in it. I just put it back together with parts from the pile to throw in a bike I picked up that had been left with the cylinder off and allowed to fill with water.

Thomas check the intake that is the most prone spot on these and then seals,I took a note from Brent and put some hondabond on the new crank seals and also on the intake
