Those people in that tent are so screwed. There are probably more Triffids on the other side of the tent. Where there is one there are more. If the alien vegetables don't get us the giant Wasps will. They can fly in from anywhere. There may be a hive over the hill, or that hill could be a hive. The poor people in the Ukraine will get attacked by 'THEM' after Chernobyl. There have been reports of UFO's that may be establishing new nests in the region. We thought we had all the nests wiped out in the Southwest here in the US after the A-Bomb testing. It may have been Them that caused Chernobyl. Ukrainians are truly screwed like the people in the tent, Orks on the North and East side and Them on the Northwest with Triffids moving up from the Southwest. I hope Godzilla does not appear from the sea. Knock on wood. Even Islands are not safe. The giant Wasps and Them have been flying in melons and Triffids. Even seawater is no defense now that the Wasps fly aircover. Seawater does not bother Them. If the Triffid invasion gets too bad. I will leave for the isle of Wight. It's only about a mile across the water. It was a safe haven in the book. Oh I hope the Triffid hasn't learnt to read.

The Wasps can fly in reinforcements.
If the Triffids have learned to read they will close off those seawater lines.

The world is going to Hell, be it Melon body snatchers, Triffids, Wasps, Politicians, Orcs, or Them giant ants. I did enjoy reading science fiction years ago. I just can't read easily anymore.

Try a kindle or something similar. You can alter the font size to make it easier. I never thought I would like it. I always liked reading a book. But I've had a kindle for about 10 years now. I can't remember the last scooter actual book I've brought. It's great at night too. If I can't sleep. I can have the kindle on with low light so I don't wake the wife up.

I use my browser to read Kindle books. It does work well with font control but I still like real books. I can't turn the pages or hold them still to read now.
I found and re-read the Kindle SF book about the giant wasps last night. The Furies (Gateway Essentials Book 111) by Keith Roberts I had the paper book 50+ years ago when I read it the first time. I looked for it in my library. I probably 'lost' the book in one of my ex wife's library cleanings.

I hear you guys across the pond are in for an arctic blast and will need wellies and ponchos soon as well as winter clothes. Maybe a rubber scuba diving suit with insulated long johns underneath also would be appropriate.
We still have heat here in Kansass. My electric bill is still high.

It's going to be a high of 64°F on Tuesday. Down to 60°F the rest of the week here. Down to a lowest of 40 overnight this week. People are wearing costs again in the mornings.

I saw that weather report and found myself wishing I could buy that island I saw in Scotland today. It would be nice to spend my last years at 'home' or at least near it. If I sold everything here I could almost afford it but I would not be able to afford building anything on the island to survive there nor would they allow me. I don't think the UK would like to have any old Americans moving there. I don't have the energy to move at this point of my life either.
