Stick a cap full of oil in your fuel . Oil is a coolant also not just a lubricant try it ! lol You did say your using a stock oil pump i think .... the only thing with that is even a little amount of oil like a cap full into our little gas tank volume can take you from running stoich or rich to running on the lean side. any time you add oil to the fuel supply you need to check mixture and usually upjet because the oil on fuel supply takes away from the amount of fuel the jets are providing. this is true. Oil isn't the cooling factor in a 2t motor- fuel is. Fuel thrown against hot surfaces cools them as it evaporates into ever smaller molecules.

awesome! What's cool about my mod is that even though the fan cover looks like (and is) a total hack, it's actually not bad. I spent considerable time making enough room for clearance, while still leaving enough material to secure the original outer cover. I have that on now, but I haven't done a test run yet. If the temp still stays low enough with that cover, I'll leave it. But if not, I can come up with a screen like you did reph, but it should be easier for me if I can just use those three screws and their holes, from the OEM outer cover. I'll report back after a test run with the current setup. In the meantime, I ordered another one of those fans for my other Zuma, plus one more for a spare... Also, since I did remove the plastic screen when I hacked up the cover, I could replace with another screen, and the original outer cover... That original screen would only prevent large items from getting through. hmm If it doesn't run cool enough with the fan cover in place, I guess you could always modify the cover piece to add an air scoop to the cover too. Now that you have extra cooling, you can't really use the temperature for tuning the main jet. So take your time when tuning the main jet. You will have to up jet till it sputters at WOT and then come down a few jet sizes from there. Be careful that you are not actually in a lean state. The added extra cooling may disguise the lean state. You could end up lean, but the cooling fan works so well that your temperature displays lower.

yes - good point about tuning and temps. I'd rather run cool and then spend more time on tuning and checking plugs, vs running hot. at the risk of exposing my shoddy work, here's the latest tweak. I bought some screening at the HW store and cut it up, but a bit too big. I can always cut it back... I will do some test runs with the screen in place, and the outer cover. If it runs cool enough like this, I may just clean it up and call it a day. If it's not cool enough, I can try it with just the metal screen.

The screen looks cool by itself, but could use a flat ring using existing screws to cover the wire ends.

Just did a couple of 5.5 mile test runs and the temp is staying under 310 with the screen and the outer cover. So I’ll leave it like that for now, other than cleaning it up a bit

I'm going to try that fan mod on my '04 Zuma. I daily the thing, and hot florida days scare me. Had a prior 70cc weld the rings on me. (Granted I had an exhaust leak, which probably eff'ed my af ratios)
'04 YW50, 70cc Polini Contesta, Leo-Vince knockoff pipe, Uni Airbox mods, Stock Carb (57 Idle,105 Main), 6g rollers
Any advice on air cooling is appreciated!

the way I'm running it now on my black scooter, it looks 100% stock. I bought some new pieces so I have extras, dremel-ed out the center and just enough to clear the larger fan, and then re-assembled. I'm no longer using the wire mesh. I just took this photo in the garage - not much light in that area. I can take better photos if anyone is interested

Looks very clean even with blurry pics.

Yes - other than the big fan, everything else is stock (edit - mods in sig for this Black Zuma. When I say that the rest is stock - I'm talking about the fan shrowd, and all the pastics around the fan).
I had to spend time with the dremel for the stock shrowd. That air scoop goes on without any modification. The shrowd loses the entire center and just retains only enough meat on the outer edges to accept the stock scoop. So - then - the only issue is there's no screen of any kind. I had that mesh screen but decided to risk going without it, trading off the risk of getting a small rock or something - vs the clean look
