Is this fixable and what is the best way to fix it? There are 2 matching scars in the middle of my cylinder hone.

Looks like it was run with no piston pin clips!It needs a hone job,then It'll run alright.Those slots will not alter the port timing,but it may cause the piston rings to wear quicker..

sweet - After you hone it out (drill motor and hone brush - available at many places - harbor freight has cheap ones) get/beg/borrow/steal a bore micrometer and measure the bore. Then check it against the service limit in a maintence manual and see. Or - - - after the hone and new rings, stick it back together and do a pressure check, OR start it up and see how it runs....

if you can feel it with your finger nail proably not those scores look pretty deep
